June 2008 - Chemistry

I'm not sure what happened to the other thread. How did everyone do? What's the usual cutoff for an 800?

The other thread contained discussion of specific test questions and was deleted.

Amistad, when can we start discussing specific questions? I mean, I know it's when all the time zones are finished, but when exactly is that?

PR says 6 blank is 800, while CB Practice test 3 blank is 800.

It's probably around -4 realistically.

12 blank and 14 incorrect, how do you think i did?

-4 seems a bit strict on this particular test, the difficulty seemed above-average

The final western timezone will be completing roughly 7pm Eastern US time.

Moderator Amistad

Oh, I meant the average cutoff is probably around -4 (that is the number that seems to be floating around); I didn't mean for this particular test, sorry

hopefully the curve for this test will be slightly more lenient

How many Bronsted-Lowrey questions were there on the Chem test?

I just realized I mixed up Bronsted-Lowrey with Lewis definition of Acid/Base...

i thought it was harder than may. much more random fact things.. :(

hopefully the curve is good!

Are the curves predetermined or done so after they get the tests marked?

I only remember one Bronsted-Lowrey question.

Overall, i think it was fair. The hardest part for me was the T/F section - i thought some were tricky. Otherwise, I hopefully got 750+

Guys what did you get for the filter paper question?

so....we can talk about it now?

Hoping for a 750 here too. Forgot how many questions I skipped, but I'm pretty confident I broke at least 730.

yes I think so. ...

i put "precipitate" only.

ok--i only put separating liquid from precipitate

I canceled my score, as I hadn't studied at all. Yay for October...I probably could have gotten a 700 if I tried, but I wouldn't have been happy with that score anyway. I thought a lot of the questions were tricky, but the T/F section actually wasn't as bad as I expected.
