June 2009 ACT Math Discussion

how is there 16 lines of symm? Several are saying 8

The chords question was 60 deg. (I think.)

EDIT: And tbonus, there were 8 lines of symmetry, not 16.

i got 8 lines… i dont see how there were 16 and i checked it over too

wait there’s too many different answers is it 8 or 16 for the diagonals??

What was the answer to the trig question (not the law of cosines one but a previous problem)? I think it was in the 40’s (question number).

Ya the answer for lines of sym was 8.

sorry, ill change it to 8

there were like a bunch with angles it seemed like

44 or something, right?

Stock, you’re right about Orion, but you’re in the wrong thread.

Why was the lines of sym 8?

Was the basketball question the fifth person/time?

Yeah I drew it out to make sure, but we did that drill all the time when I played basketball. The ball moves around the circle in the shape of a star

Can anybody confirm the symmetry question?

Symmetry was 8.

Yeah pass was definitely fifith. i drew it out too.

updated

1:3
560 (larges)
8 lines of symmetry
3.14 (something with the glass)
4 (det)
how much went to charity it was like $3 an hr (2hr for small/3hr for large)
240 (avg)
3:2:1 (jerome kevin seth)
(5,0) (the square 3cm side)
384 (surface area of cube)
intersecting lines
angle was 90deg
missing side was 12 (gave u like 20 for h, and a 3,4,5 tri)
3 the area of the rect think with kA
(a/c) for some sin/cos/tan thing - letter B
30tan52
60 deg chord
goes through quad 1, 3, 4
add 18 red marbles (very similiar to a practice test question)
circle was rad38 center was like (5,0)
ice rink 16 + 8pi
rad(16+x^2)
to make the equations infinite times by 6 (2x-y=8 and 6x-3y=4a)
pass ball around 5th
midpoint was 5
60 for the other side of rect box = 81000cm3
x<42 (or 48 i forget)

how much went to charity it was like $3 an hr (2hr for small/3hr for large)
what about the pie chart was that 1/3
side of rect like 4 (so 8x4)?
add .1 to slope = .22?

How do you know it was 8?
I initially said 8, but then I thought of it like a square with triangles attached. The max for a square is 4 which is why I picked 4.

what was the midpoint question again exactly?

Pie chart I said was 21:29 but I’m not sure. 42% was the percent, so I did 42:58 which simplifies to 21:29

The midpoint q only asked for the x coordinate of the midpoint. The x coordinates of the other two were 14 and -4, so answer is 5

sorry if it was asked but what was the thing with the sequence of numbers?
