June 2009 SAT INTERNATIONAL

No,just forget about these 30 points.**** happens .When you reach 760 on every section,it is a matter of luck to improve.Besides, you are not guaranteed that you won`t make another silly mistake and you will score 800

OMG, I found out that I got -2 in math and scored a 740 :frowning: This is SO FRUSTRATING!!!

It’s never been this low, has it? Maybe that thing someone said about 9000 chinese people taking it this year had something to do with this!

EDIT: -1 must be 770 then. This is ********!

The curves are predetermined, so Chinese can’t lower your score. Anyways, the international curve has been very harsh to you. Raw score of 52 almost always gets you a 760 and sometimes 750 or 770. I suppose the international math was really easy according to the CB standards, but it certainly was not for me!
The June int. CR was really hard too, especially the sentence completion, and the curve does not seem to reflect that.

-3 and 730 i’m so mad that’s too harsh of a curve for math.

I got -7 last time and that was a 680. #*@&ing collegeboard.

Well, you still pwned the SAT xShadow63.

But I only got a 2000, so I better get down to work! 2 more tries!

I am soo frustrated!!! I omitted 2 answers and got one wrong… 730 with 51 raw score?! omg!!!

Yep, so far the math curve is as follows:

Raw Mark (out of 54) – Scaled Score
54 – 800
53 – 770
52 – 740
51 – 730

Messed up curve… :(

Don’t worry Sci-Fry, the next time, yours will go way better. My first time I got a 2060, and I improved by 200 points. I just wish I had time to do it again; I could do so much better. But I have to take the subject tests now, then start applying.

Ah, I assume you’re applying early then. Where do you plan on applying?

I think I’m just gonna go for RD. Our school’s been so disorganized with US admissions because the vast majority of students only apply to the UK.

Do you know if it’s possible to take the SAT in January if the application deadline is January 1st? You can’t do a rush delivery of scores or anything, can you?

Same with my school; I live in Canada, and I basically had to research all this information myself…which is why I slightly mistimed my subject tests. By slightly I mean I’m taking them all in October.

I want to apply ED to Columbia. I’m also going to apply to Cornell, Harvard, Duke, Johns Hopkins, Berkeley, UCLA, and Northwestern.

How about you? Where are you going to apply?

I’m not sure about the rush delivery; you’d have to check the college’s website to see the last score they accept. Like, for Columbia, ED deadline is November 1st, and they accept the November SAT as the last date.

If I can get my SATs up to 2150+ then I’ll probably apply to Stanford, MIT, Berkeley and perhaps one other college (not sure which yet, but need to decide soon). All for RD.

I plan on majoring in engineering, however I’m only applying to a few schools in the US because my first choice universities will be in the UK (closer to family and home). Since in the UK they give conditional offers based on IB scores I thought that it would be a good idea to apply to a few US universities in case I don’t meet my offer - you can’t really call it “backup” because none of the above schools could possibly be backup, but more of a plan B.

Anyhow, I think I’ll take a combination of two more SAT I’s and one SAT II sitting in October, November and December. Do you think it would be worth taking two or three subject tests? I’m definitely taking math 2 and physics, but was wondering whether I should also take French for a bit of variation? Also, it would mean that I would have to take 3 subject tests in one sitting, which would be quite arduous.

Good luck with admissions!

Well, it depends on how well you normally do in the classes for the subject tests you take. It’s pretty hard to take 3 at a time, as I’ve been told numerous times, but you gotta do what you gotta do.

Good luck with your admissions as well!
