June 2009 SAT Math

so 158 was the answer?

and I second Bee’s question about anyone knowing the question that had an answer of “603”

i thought the answer was 158. mabsjenbu do you remember an absolute value inequality question or a 1/4x+4 question that ruthless was talking about earlier?

P.S. Does ANYONE know the 25% question with answer 500?

25% question was about a bar graph.
it was about how many people would answer “yes” to the question about spending more on vacation.
The problem asked how many in $75,000~89,999 range would answer yes.
there were 2000 people in this range and the percentage was 25%, if the asnwer is 500?

oh yes i remember that one. thanks so much!

hey wat was the question tht had an answer of 158

the one we were talking about above - given a sequence, what is the first number over 100? and when you plugged in 78, you got 158

BTW: anyway remember an absolute value inequality or a 1/4x +4 something? ruthless posted about this earlier but I really really don’t remember it at ALL - could it be experimental?

you dont know the sequence do you Bee?

3, 8, 18, 38, 78, 158 if I recall correctly. Add one and double

Lol sry one last thing…was it multiple choice or free response?

FR

RTgrove: for the 25% problem, was the 2000 given?

ya…lol I have my calc right here and some math problem I had I found 25% of 2000

@rt
I think the absolute value one I put like .4 or something like that

i think it had to be under .6

the 1/4x+4 question was the one with a graph with five points on the graph and u had to find the point that was under y=1/4x + 4 and had y >x

Wait… .4? This was on the math section with the FR…I don’t even think that was like a choice!

The absolute value problem was all whole numbers… like |x-3|… or something like that

ALSO…the point where y was greater than x…wasn’t that like point D or something (I think we got letters?)

@Bee maybe I have the numbers wrong and I thought thus was a MC?
huh?
maybe Im talking about a different question

and I think the answer for the point was C

yeah this was a MC but like really early on… does anyone else remember the point? Was the point the farthest over to the left or something?

I remember it was like question 3 or something in the FR section

Also, about the 1/4x problem… does anyone remember if D was also on the left? I’m trying to kind of remember what I put…thanks!

@Bee Idk I just remember that only 2 points satisfited Y>X (only points A and C)

But A was not < the line

No one seems to have had this math experimental. I had these weird last two questions of a 20 question section, that I forgot to do until the last 20 seconds. One of them had two equations, and in the time I got to look at it, the answer choices were like 0, 0 and -3, and -3. It was something about canceling out. The last question was a weird shape with a bunch of lines through it. WAS THIS ONE EXPERIMENTAL?

hey the math qn with the two circles, the qn was asking for area of the two shaded circles or the area outside the shaded region? i can’t really rmb, but i put 26 because 50 (area of two circles) - 2x12 (area of shaded region).
