June 2010 Math

^ I think it asked for minimum value. In which case, x=0.

I V 4 and 28 were possible answers.

there is no maximum for |x| - 4. you can either graph to find the minimum value or just substitute zero for x so 0 - 4 = -4 which is the minimum of the graph as well

if this doesn’t work for me (they June test), I really have no choice but to go to the ACT. I’ve only taken that once and got a 29, which I was fairly happy with considering I didn’t prep at all. This was my 4th SAT and I’m cutting myself off after this. I was gonna stop at 3, but I bombed May and I don’t want to be one of those compulsive freaks who takes it 6-7 times.

But I think I’ll meet my goal of 1400 CR+M, so hopefully it won’t be a problem.

i thought it asked for what x=?, or am i wrong

@TASser: You make my day. They didn’t say there could be multiple answers so I was freaking out about that one–I obviously agree on 28 as well.

@Aaron2011 - Blah, same. But then I’m thinking about SAT IIs next October so I feel like I can’t screw this up cause I really don’t wanna worry about SAT I at the same time -.-
But, nothing to do about it now. We’ll just have to wait unfortunately.

It asked for the minimum value of f(x), which was -4.

What’s -6 to -8 wrong in the Math section? :(

640-680 or so

Thanks, was one of the answers 1/c ?

The SAT II math IIC (math level 2) isn’t that bad really. I took it for the first time and I got a 760 even though I didn’t even get to the last five questions (left them blank). If I 800 the math section today, probably gonna retake the math Sat II in oct. instead… if not… oh well

Was the pentagon & circle on the same plane question 5?

And was that an experimental section? |D

has anybody tried emailing collegeboard about a general question? and if so, do they respond back ASAP?

very noob question, but please answer guys:

I answered all the math questions so I was wondering if MC missed one are “counted” more than grid-ins? like would a 4 MC and 1 G wrong still yield a score above 700 or does having missed more MC hurt my chances?

I’m like 90% sure that grid in questions don’t count against you, as in they don’t take -1/4 point if you get one wrong.

Correct?

I’m like 90% sure that grid in questions don’t count against you, as in they don’t take -1/4 point if you get one wrong.

Correct?

^
Correct. : )

that is correct.

yea they don’t take off points for wrong grid-in answers

can somebody respond please? has anybody tried emailing collegeboard about a general question? and if so, do they respond back ASAP?

y value on the graph is the minimum value?
