June 2010 Math

which was the experimental section?

@bonchicbongenre,

The one with the sphere as the last question was experimental.

Jolly: something along the lines of "If someone tipped $4.20 for a $28 meal, how much was the meal if they tipped $5.40?

@packer* the food check was definitely not experimental. I remember that was one of the questions that made me go to the timer

I honestly have no recollection whatsoever of this food check question. Does anyone recall exactly what the question asked?

by food check, are we talking about the meal that was x, then the second meal was 3/5 because of a discount? because that WAS experimental.

I agree, the 5.4, 28 tip question was real.

5.4/28 was definitely real. And I concur, Packer, because I don’t remember the food check one at all.

someone above said:

You purchase two meals at a restaurant. The first meal costs x dollars and the second meal costs 2x/3 dollars because you get a discount… (i forget the rest…)

I’m pretty sure this food check is experimental.

Ok, I’m going to bed soon, can you guys finish the last 10 by yourselves?

I just don’t remember that one question at all, so it’s weird.

Is there only ever two possible experimental sections (as in one critical reading or one math), or could there be more than one experimental math version?

I’m pretty sure there is only one per section (as I had writing experimental)

what? that question was not 36? it was 28.8 ???..

wasn’t the chair question 24? 12 per row and 6 per column?
1 row taken off and 2 columns taken off so 24?

oh i am referring to post 662.

Jupiter: $36 was the answer to the tip/meal question and $28.8 was the answer to the yards of cloth question.

Bonchon: When you take a whole row out, columns only have 5 chairs in each instead of 6. So it’s 12+5+5=22.

bonchon, no because two chairs overlap

@bonchon,

You have to take into account the change in each column length. If you remove a full row, each column now only has 5 chairs. Therefore, 12 + 5 + 5 = 22.

no, it was 22. take off one row is 12. you now have 5 per column. take off two columns is now 10. 10+12=22

Ok, the one with 3/5 because of discount WAS experimental. I’m talking about another question.

@PoonxD,

THANK YOU! :smiley: I got nervous for a moment there.
