June 2010: World History

oo
and the question which it asked what caused the most death??

was it potato famine? or stalin’s collective farming?

Crap, I don’t think I should have omitted as many as I did. Looking like a 790 now. :-(

i put stalin’s collective farming
i know he killed more people than the nazis did, even

Marco Polo never saw: tomatoes and sweet potatoes

USSR cartoon: something about independence of satellite states

Most industrialized in HIgh middle ages: Northern italy?

Center of trade: Amsterdam?

Why Germanic tribes invaded: Huns

Lao Tzu: (A)? (government is nice –> people will listen)

first farming/goats/sheep: Southwest asia?

Same time, no contact: Maya/Romans

Inca vs. Sumerian cities: Inca was in highlands, Sumer was in river valleys

Germany Map: 1941

Different types of buddhism: bodhisattvas

women vs men roles in hunter/gatherer societies: equally important but different

Yalta conference: divided up territories taken from Axis powers

French/Bolshevik Revolutions? <--------------------------------------------------------------------

Killed the most: Stalin

Japan vs. Russian industrialization: Japan did electronics, Russia did weapons

Japanese isolationism? <-----------------------------------------------------------------

Ibn Battuta Question 1: women’s roles were not uniform throughout the islamic empire

Ibn Battuta Question 2: women in morocco couldn’t entertain any man

Most pastoral nomads (at a certain time…)? Western North America?

Reason for end of Charlemagne’s empire? I put (E) but i’m not sure. something about other people getting too powerful

Incorrectly matched imperialist nation/colony: Something and Algeria (france was algeria’s colonizer)

Vikings (Scandinavian) never reached: Either Kievan Rus or Mainland North America <-----------------------------------------

for the most pastoral nomads i put western america

it was about the local lords not listening to him and stuff

For the vikings i think it was either kievan rus or mainland north america, but vikings founded kievan rus, correct? but they also settled in mainland canada… :/

for viking its ireland

For the Scandinavian question, I put Ireland. I thought they had settled everywhere else…
What was the ashoka question, where he made the divine religion or something? I was stuck between unifying religion and the last choice that I can’t remember right now.
Wasn’t the most pastoral nomads in sub-saharan africa? I could be wrong.
Why wasn’t the Russia vs. Japan heavy industry vs. consumer goods or something of that nature?
And Charlegmange question, was there even an answer with the local lords? I said he was authoritarian, but that’s probably wrong anyways…
Ugh this sucks.

i put authoritairan for the charlegmange
there isn’t any other logical choice for that

Incorrectly matched imperialist nation/colony: Something and Algeria (france was algeria’s colonizer)

Actually, it was Spain - Angola. You’re right anyway, as it was colonized by Portugal.

And i’m pretty sure for vikings it was ireland and japan it was the dutch provided them weapons

Ashoka was the one that was harsh and then felt remorseful and converted to Buddhism.

For the Tokugawa Japan/Dutch question…

Was it the weapons or the fact that the Dutch restricted themselves more to trade than missionary work? I know that Tokugawa became isolationist when all of those people converted to Christianity and caused some unrest… but I also remember reading about weapons. :/

for japanese isolation
it wasn’t providing weapon

the answer was that dutch didn’t try to convert japanese

the test was pretty difficult. i’m just hoping for a generous curve.

what is the bare minimum raw score for an 800?

Mismatched imperial powers was Spain/Algeria

I think answer to the Bolshevik/France revolutions one was something about the influence/impact, don’t remember anything specific…

yalta conference = determining the political fate of the eastern european countries

what was ideal women for confucian?

May I know which prep book is good for wh sat 2 test today?
