June 2012 World History SAT II

I put naval tech

@things i said naval technology

cool and Im still worried about the history as “repeating patterns” or “showing progress.” They both seemed to be correct.

Whoops, I thought that just generally regarded the Steppe. Oh well.

According to this document (pg. 27-28) http://www.williampolk.com/pdf/2001/Encounters%20with%20Ibn%20Khaldun.pdf</a> Khaldun saw the nomads adapting to civilization as a decline, not progress, so its probably repeating patterns

Does anybody know the whole Kongo question + answers? I’m unsure of that one :S

i didn’t think that was slave trade. The date was ~1500 and i didn’t think it began that early.

Which area had the most pastoral nomads between 1200 - 1500?
Which part of Europe was the most urbanized during the 11th to 13th centuries?

what is the anwer to the japanese isolation question and the pastoral nomads? isn’t pastoral nomads subsaharan africa?

What is the Japanese isolation question? Can someone describe it?

Took the Sunday version. I think I tops got 4 wrong and omitted 2. Am I looking good for an 800?

guys this is final
omit:11
Wrong:7

=800?
I think so because that is a raw score of
75.25 and this test’s curve is going to be a little better than the blue book

i put religious thought because islam, buddhism, and i think confucianism were emerging (their founders except for islam were born in 500s bce) and for the ibn quote, i said it was repeating patterns, though im pretty bad with reading comprehension

For the nomads question, I put N. America, although Google seems to agree with the sub-saharan Africa response. As for the isolation question, Japanese isolation arose during the Tokugawa regime due to the japanese not wanting western influences, but I forgot the gist of what it was asking.

Blech. Overall, I’m pretty bummed because I completely underestimated this test. Pretty sure I’m gonna do extremely poorly. Well, hindsight IS 20/20, I guess.

What do you guys think a 73 raw score translates to?

I’m fairly sure it was repeating patterns. And for the question after that I got Mongols and China. And the Kongo one I think was the slave trade, but I’m not positive.

I’m looking at about 10 omitted, 15ish wrong. That’s 66-67. 750 maybe possibly?

Im looking at around 12-14 wrong none omitted. Looking at around 780+ good compared to that I barely studied last hour before taking the exam LOL

for the kongo question, was the king’s name alfonso and was the country portugal? because i searched ‘@king of kongo alfonso’ and found his wikipedia page which says this which sounds A LOT like the something about the quote on the test:
“In 1526 Afonso wrote a series of letters complaining about the behavior of the Portuguese in his country and their role in the developing slave trade.”

afonso** i think i can confirm the kongo question was about slave trade. i found the quote, it starts in the second paragraph and it mentions slavery in the first. the quote is definitely from the letter on this site cuz i remember it said “excessive freedom”

[Nzinga Mbemba (Afonso I), Letters to the King of Portugal (1526)](http://www.wadsworth.com/history_d/special_features/ext/world_hist/unbound/product/wawhm01c/content/whis/modules/empire/historicaldocuments/emp_rd_mbemba.htm)

I got 10 wrong and after looking through this thread, Im fairly confident I got an 800. Those 10 that I got incorrect were the ones that I had the most trouble with. Can’t wait to get my scores!!!

so far, 15-16 wrong out of the 81 posted. 750?
