June 2012 World History SAT II

Brazil was known for…cacao?

I second underdevelopment.

Brazil was mainly for sugar, wasn’t it?

Mstenity, I, too, put cacao, but the answer, according to our dear, much better informed friends, is sugar.

Going to go drown myself now. Ta-ta. :(

(I swear, I think I made less than a 650.)

First time posting. Thought the test was OK…I studied a ton the last two weeks.

Here are some of the questions I remember:

the incas used the quipu, but i don’t think they used that word on the test.
Gandhi and the spinning wheel = self-sufficiency?
Sepoy rebellion = England and partial Indian rule?
Jannissaries were Balkans Christians
what happened right after Israel’s independence… wars w/ arabs

@horus pretty sure it was underdevelopment, the others dont fit the question

I put underdevelopment for that one

brazil was sugar, i think

Sepoy rebellion = Rule of the Company
Ghandi = I put homespun clothing, but I’m not 100% sure.

Yep, underdevelopment and sugar.

I was really surprised how fact-based the SAT WH is compared to the AP exam, but yeah, definitely start studying well in advance if you have time. The Kaplan review book was absolutely amazing for this test (I heard it’s not so good for other SATs). Definitely would recommend.

@Iris: Yeah, it’s homespun clothing (yay for watching the Gandhi movie in class for 5 periods haha), but India was possessed by the British crown after the Sepoy rebellion, so I put the Indians had no say in government. Not entirely sure though.

Ahh. Thanks all! It’s underdevelopment then. ;d

@storyweaver I agree with all.

@ Iris

The Sepoy Mutiny ended the rule of the British East India Company as power was transferred to the British Crown.

I put sugar as well. What’d you guys put for the question about the most deadly event or something along those lines? I think the Irish famine was an option. I omitted that one…

yeah i said inca, the description was like knotted cords. and i didnt know about the gandhi one, was in homespun clothing? haha that sounds so strange though. others i agree with

I don’t think it was rule by the company after the Sepoy Rebellion. I’m pretty sure that after that they were directly ruled by the British and not through the company.

@ Douglas

I put collectivization of Agriculture.

@horusb
I remember now :o
I read that just yesterday too. This is what I get for cramming it in two days :(

i put underdevelopment too

For the Gandhi on I put exporting more Indian goods…

Sepoy Rebellion caused the end, not beginning, of the rule by the company.

for the most deadly i put stalins collectivation. i remember in barrons it said there were lots of deaths
