I got a 1560 with 770 R/W, 790 math, and 18 essay. My ACT is 35 composite with 36 english, 35 math, 32 reading, 36 science, and 23 essay (currently being rescored). Which test should I send to colleges?
@legalpad12 That’s exactly what I got too!
Send both @omnichario
The R/W curve seemed more fair than math. I got 3 wrong in math for a 750. Isn’t that a little steep? If 0 wrong=800, 1 wrong=790, 2=780, 3=770, then shouldn’t I have a 770 math?
@sunrisereader , one wrong in math is 780. D got 5 wrong in reading and 700. You are lucky that it is not 740 for your math.
I wonder if the repeat testers (kids who got the same test as March) caused the harsh curve.
The curve this time was so stupid. I got more questions right in every section than I did last time (in March), but I still got a lower overall score. Reading/Writing was higher, math was the same.
@SincererLove Thanks for the data. But then how did @omnichario get a 790 on math?
I don’t think any of us can even pretend to know how exactly Collegeboard curved our scores this time around.
There were a lot of factors in play, since some kids got the exact same test, as @SincererLove mentioned.
Composite 1470 (740 on Reading/Writing, 730 on Math) 17 on Essay! Happy with what I did for the amount of studying I did (roughly around 15 hours on Khan Academy)
Are most kids sending both ACT and SAT scores these days?
I only want to send in my SAT score and not waste time with the ACT. Thoughts?
@sunrisereader , my bad… I misread someone post on another board…and thought 20 point per question for math too. His comments actually is “one more question right on math, and math score 20 points lower”. Like @phs2017 said…brutal curve!
@SincererLove , He too did better in science than history. his converts to a 2280. What is your D SI? and how do you calculate it? 4 wrong in math dropped him to 750. He did the ACT in April. 35 Composite.
@SincererLove It’s ok, thanks anyways for your input!
EDIT: I just realized I had a 760 math, not 750. Sorry for the confusion! Still though, given that 1 wrong is supposedly 790, I wonder why 3 doesn’t equate to 770.
I got a 1520, just a tad lower than what I was shooting for. 800 math, 720 with 7 wrong reading and 3 wrong writing. Is super scoring allowed now that it’s a new sat?
I got 2 math questions wrong and received a score of 790 so I don’t think there is a certain way it’s curved unless certain questions were weighted by difficulty.
@suzyQ7 Would sending both scores give me any advantage in admissions? I am applying to many schools, so it would be somewhat costly.
@sunrisereader I missed one in math and got a 790.
Finally the scores are back. 1540, 780 in English, which is an 80 pt increase between March and June. Hopefully these are good enough for Vanderbilt, WashU, etc. But I’m still kicking myself for missing the conditional probability question in BOTH the March and June SATs.
@swhwhf , for PSAT, D has 1500 with 224 SI. I thought she would be higher on the SAT than 1550. She is happy and really could care less as "the application is more than scores"she told me.
@legalpad12 , this is D 's only SAT score (for NMSF purpose too) and never took ACT. She has 4 subjects though, taken throughout the high school years after AP classes.
How did your guys score on PSAT? Do you see increase on the scores?
Same exact score on the June SAT and May SAT. Not sure what’s up with that since I studied VIA Khan inbetween that time. I even got most of the sub scores the same! The only thing that changed was my essay score, where my first one was 7-8-8 and my second one was 4-4-5 (lol, I even felt better about this essay too)
@SincererLove My PSAT score increased by 50 points
@SincererLove 1450 for PSAT with a 216 SI. R/W increased 90 points, math 10 points.
