I am a high school senior looking to attend UF. I decided to go to Santa Fe first just to get my prerequisites done. Is this a smart option considering today's economy and the competition to get in UF? I would hate to go to Santa Fe and find out that UF won't accept me. By the way, my goal is to go into law school and work in the entertainment industry. So I believe UF can help me get into the best law school in California. Thank you so much!!

From what I’ve been told, if you can’t get into UF you go to Santa Fe and transfer using the articulation between UF and Santa Fe. ? Recently, has anything changed? Doesn’t UF have to accept your AA?

I believe you have to receive an AA from Santa Fe to transfer to UF.

It’s actually much easier to get into UF with an AA from a community college than it is to get into UF as a freshman. Just finish your AA and the required prerequisites with a decent GPA. People do this all the time, either to save money, or because they were rejected by UF as a freshman.

And it doesn’t have to be Santa Fe. You can transfer from any Florida CC with an AA.

If you want to double major at UF, do I just tell Santa Fe? I applied there and they didn’t give me that option. It was just one track

FWIW-- go to a community college and achieve an AA. Transfer to UF. Major in whatever your heart desires. Forget the double major idea. Take your GRE, LSAT etc and attempt graduate level education. Time to focus! Just trying to provide practical information.

Should I major in something general like history or political science? I want to go to UCLA law for entertainment

What does the economy have to do with attending Sante Fe vs. UFL ?
How would attending Sante Fe save you any “REAL” money ?
Suggestion-
If you gain admission into UFL, then attend UFL and avoid the community college route.
Usually those students who do the Sante Fe route into UFL are the students who could not get accepted to UFL to begin with !

@ilovethe47: It’s CHEAPER to go attend CC then transfer to state university…there’s nothing wrong with the CC route given the end result is what really matters, a degree. However, you won’t experience the social life as a UF freshman and sophomore…but who cares, what matters is you get your education and opportunities and that you pursue ambition and being productive; so work hard and do what you need to do. If you get into UF, I’d go anyways just to enjoy gator lifestyle a bit, but if money is really tight and you’re priority is the education (which it should be IMO), then there’s nothing wrong with the CC route. Look for internships/connections early on!

Thanks! I wouldn’t waste any time at Santa Fe. I know that if I work hard then I should have no problem getting into UF.

@Sabertooth-
Disagree with you 100% and I’m only replying to your nonsense hoping that the OP won’t get the wrong idea with you lunacy.
@OP-If you are lucky enough to get accepted to UFL, then go and “DO NOT OPT OUT” and attend your first two years at a community college solely to save a few bucks. You will be doing yourself a great disservice and there is nothing guaranteeing you acceptance in the future to UFL after your community college days. The money saved by attending a community college vs. attending UFL for all four years is negligible and the experienced gain is unimaginable.

I would choose UF in a heartbeat next year if I was accepted. But I didn’t make the cut. So my only options are going to a community college or going to a university which I’ve been accepted by a couple

^^^

Acceptances don’t come out for a few weeks. How did you get turned down already?

I didn’t apply. It’s a reach for me. My GPA is a 4.6 weighted but my sat is only a 1490 and my act is 23. I do have over 200 volunteer hours but it probably wouldn’t matter. :/

Do I have any chance at UF?

ilovethe47: Well, you’re not exactly being so repectful with that reply to me but would you care to explain how what I said was nonsense? And please give a proper, free of speculation response; don’t force me to have to bring up your past borderline racist comments and the fact that you speculate to no tommorrow and consistently give out fabricated information.

Also ilovethe47, just to add I’m not trying to offend you with that other reply, so my apologies if you took it the wrong way. However, I would like to see your explanation for why a CC to university plan is nonsense

Also I can’t edit on phone, so sorry for many replies but to the OP, there seriously is nothing wrong with the CC route. Actually, CC students are given maximum priority for transfer acceptances and there are even articulation agreements where if you meet certain requirements at a CC for a certain college at UF, then you have a guaranteed transfer. The CC to uni route saves both money and it can be easier to get into uf (it’s literally a checklist to get done in CC like “certain GPA”, “certain requirements”, and etc. and once you get them all checked, you are guaranteed a transfer admission). Sure you miss out the social life of as UF freshman and sophomore but who cares, at the end of the day, you still get the opportunities and education you were seeking and if you want to be at uf for 4 years, then just do junior+senior+grad school and you’re set

That sounds more assuring! The only options I would have if I went to a university are FAU, FIU, or maybe UCF. But I mean I could transfer to UF from anyone of those if I wanted to. I just don’t want to end up looking for another university if I did choose the CC to uni route

Lots of people go to a local CC to save money, or because they want to be close to home. I’m not sure if the money saved is “negligible.” Tuition at one of the major Florida universities is significantly higher than at a CC.

I believe that any school, including UCF, will provide an AA upon request if you have fulfilled the requirements.
