Has anyone heard of this? is it good? it sounds interesting. but is it one of those summer program ploys just to get money?

No it is not one of the ploys.

I am an elected official for the regular Junior Statesmen program and love it. It has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my high school career and will be what I miss most about high school (I am going to my last overnight convention April 16th-17th in Stamford, CT). One of the things I wish I could've done differently (and I would've if I had a little more money) was go to a JSA Symposia. All of my friends who went absolutely loved it. They learned quite a bit, had a ton of fun and made many new friends who they are still in constant contact with. One of my best friends even met a girlfriend there, though they lived worlds apart (New York and Hawaii).

This year, or so I've heard from the person I work with who is in charge of the East Coast summer symposia, the Junior Statesmen has more financial aid to give out than it has ever before so I would actually have been able to go, unfortunately I'm graduating. But if you go, enjoy it double for me.
