Junior Transfer

I have recently posted in the Columbia and Cornell sub-forums asking a similar question. I go to a large NC state university. I attended one year at a community college because of poor HS performance (2.95 gpa; 1030 SAT, math and english). At the CC I made a 3.78 gpa and at the four-year institution I currently have a 4.0 gpa. I have 70 volunteer hours in the past 6 months and am currently involved in research at my state schools medical school. I intend to get a 3.7-4.0 gpa this semester. I am thinking of transferring because I kind of want a change of scenery (who knows, depending on how much research works I may stay).

I have currently applied to UNC and that may be an option. I am, however, also interested in some New York Ivy schools. I have some family there and I think it would be a great opportunity for me if I could get the chance to go. Specifically Columbia or Cornell. I could get very good LORs from two professors who both attended Ivy League schools, Cornell and Harvard to be specific. I am a science major and show commitment to my work.

So what do you think my chances are? Obviously my chances are much greater for UNC and I do think I'll be accepted there, but what about the Ivys? Be as hateful and blunt as you all feel like, as long as it is truthful.

bump…
