my SATs are kinda weak, but i hope to break a 1200 this year. tell me what you think, thanks!

oh and i should have awesome recs and essays!

Hello, Ms. Belle...
There's a real mismatch between your 4.0 gpa and your 1200 SATs. May I be so bold as to assume you are NOT from NOVA?

What would your class standing be? Do lots of people get 4.0s?

I only ask such probing questions because of the contradiction.

UVA's average SAT is 1330. If you pull yours up (this October?) you should be fine. If you're from NOVA there's a question, but if you're from a rural school, your chances scratch the ceiling!

And, by the way, the Jewish thing is a wash--neither helps nor hinders.

i see what you mean. no, im from the virginia beach city public school system. vbcps is the 2nd largest school system in the state. my high school is quite competive, right now the senior class-a person with a 4.12 is only number nine. a lot of students dont make it over 4.0. i have no idea why my sats are so low, but i am taking classes to improve them. thank you!

Southernebelle, you've got a good chance if you can get your SAT score up to the 1300 (m+v) range. It's really not that hard to do, so you won't have much trouble getting there. Your GPA is great, and I think that the admissions committee will like to see that you've done so well relative to your peers. Your ECs are all fine. Just make sure to crack 1300, maintain your grades, write good essays, and, if UVA really is your top choice, apply early.
