Hey CC- I go to orientation on Friday, and I have two extremely urgent questions for the upcoming school year regarding schedules. My schedule for the following year is as follows:
1)AP English Lang
2)APUSH
3)Honors PreCalc
4)Honors Physics
5)AP Psychology/AP Comparative Government (one semester classes)
6)AP Art History
7)AP Computer Science

Question 1:
Should I get a minimum wage job from 3:30PM-7:00PM Monday thru Friday tutor kids at this place, or do Academic Decathalon and participate in other after school clubs (like HOSA for example). My extracurriculars/clubs are really lacking due to some bad school planning, splitting the 9th and 10 grades from the 11th and 12th. But a job is just oh so enticing. I have no need for extra income, but the extra cash would be nice for frivolous things (like books)

Question 2:
Should I change my schedule a little? I've been thinking about dropping AP Art History for something else, like Veterinary Medical Applications, AP Statistics, or Anatomy and Physiology. Can anyone tell me what AP Art History is even about? Other than the obvious? And if you think I should drop it, which of the three other classes should I take in its place?

Thanks for your help!

If I were you, I’d stuck to EC’s and not take the job. You yourself stated that they were weak, and this is your chance to improve them.

Whether or not to take AP Art History depends on your career path. What do you think you’ll be doing?

I have heard that a job can be a great EC

If all you’re going to do is “participate” in clubs, then you may as well take the job. And don’t spend all your money on frivolous things now when you can save it to spend on frivolous things in college.

What class would you prefer?

I say take the job. It shows self-sufficiency and maturity on a college resume and you can save up the money to spend in college.

AP Art History focuses on various artistic movements throughout history, teaching you how to analyze art critically and come up with your own conclusions. If you are majoring in anything scientific or mathematical, take AP Stats or Anatomy or the Veterinary Medicine class.

Don’t get a job, it won’t help anything at all whatsoever. Just because you have a job on your college app doesn’t mean they’ll accept you. At least wait til a few months of school have passed to decide depending on how much stress you have

Also if art history isn’t required and won’t help your general field of study, don’t take it

A job IS an EC, by the way.

Take the job. Save some money up for college.

Regarding the class, I enjoy everything but math, but I am very proficient in math.
Regarding the job, it turns out I can’t get it anyway cause my piano teacher can’t change my lesson time :(
