I am picking classes for my Junior year. My classes would be
Apush
Ap enviro
Ap physics newtonian mechanics
Pre calc
Calc
English 11
Digital imaging
And then have one block for a semester long course which remains undecided. Keep in mind we have block schedule so only 4 classes at a time
I’m not entirely sure what your question is here: are you asking how your current schedule is, or looking for suggestions for the remaining semester-long class?
If it’s the first case, I have just a few questions:
- You’re taking precalc and calc in the same year? Is this AP Calc AB or BC, or precalc with introduction to calc, or something else?
- Is English 11 AP English Language? If it isn’t, and it’s offered in your school, I strongly recommend it. It’s always a good class to take, since having a good command of the English language helps everyone.
If it’s the second, then do you know what classes you could take? Also, what subjects are you interested in / what do you think you want to major in (if you know)?
Sorry if I wasnt specific, I wrote it in a jiffy. At my school we have block scheduling essentially dividing the year in 2 chunks. I would take pre calc first semester and switch over to calc in february when the second semester starts. English 11 is your run of the mill academic (normal) class. I am currently taking Honors English 10 and completely hate the course. English has not ever been my strongsuit since I come from a spanish speaking country and I recently moved to the US. My schedule choices arent due until January 27th so I still have time to look over the course choices. I just feel like the 3 AP’s should make up for the ***tty english courses. Next year I will most likely take 4 AP’s finishing me off with 7 total. And more than likely 9 exams since I plan on self studying either Micro/Macro or Computer Science. Gracias!
That makes sense. 7 total for APs is definitely good (I think someone here said 6-8 is where the benefits sort of max out). If you want to study AP CS, Amplify has an online, self-paced (somewhat) course for free. It’s really clear, and I recommend it if you’re interested.
I’m sure you know this, but APUSH is very reading / writing intensive (the AP exam has essays as well as reading passages)–maybe not as much as AP Lang, but quite a lot too.
