I'm a sophomore, but here you go:
PSAT- 231
SAT- 2330

Psat: 218
Sat: 2030

Psat: About 188
SAT: 2130- 780 Math, 710 Writing, 640 C. Reading

Man... You guys are making me feel horrible about my score. My GPA isn't the greatest, and I was relying more on my EC and SAT score for college admissions. I recieved my score today, I felt so-so; my goal was a 2100. Everyone's high score is making me feel like I have no chance at all... Definitely need to work on my Critical Reading. Anyone have any tips or pointers that can help? Thanks in advance.

a few observations

Out of the 40 data sets, 24 improved, 2 held constant & 14 "deproved", yielding about a 2:1 improvement to deprovement ratio, lower than the initial 47 reported data pairs from last year. (<a href="http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?t=52299&page=4&pp=20%5B/url%5D">http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?t=52299&page=4&pp=20</a>)</p>

Average improvement = 103 SAT points
Average deprovement = 63 SAT points (i.e., "(63)")
Average overal difference = 40 SAT points (positive)

This overall difference is lower than last year's survey after 47 data pairs, of ~75 SAT points.

As this is NOT a random sample & it is very small to boot, its difficult to attribute any great meaning to these changes from last year, although it is interesting.

BTW, please keep writing about your theories on why you think your SAT score improved or deproved from your PSAT score. These perspectives are more important to other readers than the stats in affecting change.

soph - 225
junior - 236
junior - 2240 :(

reason: careless errors, bubbling mistake?, hunger, fatigue, proctor may have shorted us on time (did for sure on one section, we protested, proctor corrected self)

PSAT- went in so nervous and unconfident, but prepared
SAT- went in calm and confident, but unprepared
I think it all has to do with how you feel. I barely studied for the SATs and got 210 pts higher than my PSAT!

195/2080

................

My SAT was 10 pts lower than PSAT. I think I prepared more for the SAT but it was in a school I didn't know and I didn't know anyone else in the room. During the essay and the first section I was tense then after that I calmed down.

PSAT: 231 (76 CR/77 M/78 W)
SAT: 2270 (730 CR/800 M/740 W)

For me my PSAT score was a shock first of all. I just wanted a 220. Also PSAT was sooooo much easier than the SAT.

PSAT books were more helpful in prepping me for that test, while parts of SAT books weren't so helpful (e.g. writing in CB blue book is so much easier than the writing on actual SAT; to make matters worse, the essay didn't hurt me at all since i got a 12 on it!)

Math increased because i missed the stupid tile question on the PSAT (but if i got a 234 my psat-sat diff. would be even greater, so i guess missing that question was a good thing)

PSAT: my CR score was a lot of luck, didn't have so much luck for SAT CR

I think i might have been more nervous when taking the SAT and probably got less sleep the night before.

hmmmm...i ate two bananas during the psat break but only one during one of the SAT breaks...maybe that might have affected my score (fyi, it has been proven that bananas increase alertness)

azno-- I like the banana theory. I checked out the wonders of a banana, and this excerpt sums it up: "A banana, with its potassium content, is also said to stimulate alertness and thus boost brain power."

here are a couple of references to back you up:

Bring on the banana stories!

any more scores to report from the jan 06 SAT?

LOL I think I will mess up the data set.

PSAT -- 238
SAT -- 2220

Factor that contributed: Lack of preparation; I took the SAT basically cold this time as opposed to the PSAT, which I took 3-5 days before to study for.

Psat - 209
Sat - 2230

October '05 PSAT: 232 (78CR/74M/80W)
November '05 SAT: 2160 (800CR/650M/710W)

My math sections were 4, 6 (experimental), 7, and 9.

I think my score would've been higher if the test had been shorter, or failing that, if (a) the math sections had been closer to the beginning of the test, (b) I hadn't had two math sections in a row, the first of which didn't even count, and (c) I'd had a verbal experimental.

In short: I think exhaustion was the main contributing factor.

soph PSAT- 197
Junior PSAT- 236 (80CR, 76M, 80W)
Junior SAT Dec- 2240 (750CR, 740M, 750W)

After my PSAT results, which I was absolutely thrilled about because I ran out of time and had to omit one of the math questions, so amazingly I didn't miss any, my SAT scores sort of disappointed me. I wouldn't have been as disappointed if I hadn't done so well on the PSAT because my SAT scores are really good, but I know I could do better now. I don't know if I'll retake the SAT or not, I'm waiting to see how I did on the ACT first.
