Just Accepted to Reed RD

Hi all,

I just received a phone call from a student at Reed informing me of my acceptance. I had no idea they would do this! I'm pretty excited since Reed was one of my top LAC choices.

I don't know if this is a special circumstance or something, but this is completely true.

Anyone else have this experience? I live in the Northeast, and I received the call at 9:03 pm

Yeah, somebody just called me as well, and I live in Texas.

CRAP... i missed that call. they didnt leave a message

....they wouldnt call to tell me of my rejection, would they?

aaaaaaah this is scary. Now I'm going to sit in my room in silence so I make sure I hear the phone if it rings! And I bet if it does ring, it'll just be my brother calling home from college...

Ahhh! Me too! Oh my gosh! :(

Is it alphabetical? Are they going to call everybody today? Scared ><

My last name starts with A... so I hope it's not alphabetical, lol.

And it's 9:30 on the East Coast where I am... damn, I'm not ready for this.

I don't think it is, my last name is waaaaaayyyyyy down on the alphabet (W), so I highly doubt it's alphabetical.

Oh. Maybe it's only special people, then :(

Yeah, they said they were pretty impressed with my application, but I thought they said to everybody. It might be because I'm a URM.

Last year, they sent out the acceptance emails the day after some people were called. The emails started going out around 9:00 PM. So maybe tomorrow will be judgment day?

I talked to them, they said that the calls go out to people who were 'flown in' or something of the sort, but it might just be URMs (I went to the URM trip). She said that e-mails and packages both go out tomorrow.

Do not worry!

I really feel bad that I will not attend Reed College, and to those cats that are going, enjoy it, it seems hella great!

ack! i wasn't home, but apparently I received a call from someone from Reed admissions around 9 PM eastern time. they wouldn't tell my dad if it was an acceptance call or not, but my dad told them to call back at ten and they haven't! I was also flown to reed for multicultural scholars weekend, so I think that has something to do with it.

ahhh I wish they would call me back!!

Ugh, I'm so nervous! There's no way I'll be accepted, though. :\

They said that decisions will be emailed tomorrow?

Gah, I'm nervous...and excited...

Yeah, my name is at the end of the alphabet and I got a call too. But for all those who haven't heard... hang in there, I'm rooting for all of you! :)

I just got the call too! What a suprise, wasn't expecting it. The place is awesome no doubt. I live in Portland though...

I'm not multicultural or anything special

Yeah they said that this year was particularly tough, and that I was an exceptional applicant.

My last name starts with M.

In terms of race, I am not a URM. I am half Indian and half Italian. I don't think that qualifies me as a URM. Although, I am Indian, but of Muslim descent (I'm Catholic), which is a minority within India, so who knows.

hmmm...I didn't even know they called people! Congrats!

I haven't gotten a call. I'm not a URM or anything, either. Guess I'll be waiting for the mail soon!

Calls coming the day before I leave town for the weekend! I'm so nervous now. Good luck to everyone who's waiting!

Phone calls?? What! I have never heard of this kind of practice.

I definitely wasn't home if they tried. Portland resident: did you receive yours around 6-6:30, or was it at the same numerical time (9-9:30) as the east coast people?
