Just applied! Now, housing?

I just sent in my UF application today, and I can't wait to create my GatorLink account tomorrow. x)

I read that I'd have to wait about 2 weeks to get a brochure about Housing. Is it really important, or can I just apply for housing in the next few days?

Will a 2-week difference in my housing application date matter? I'd really like to get into Sledd or Fletcher hall for Summer B, and avoid Buckman or Thomas. I used to be alright for buying/renting an A/C unit if I got Buckman, but my cousin said something about limited power or electricity and overheating...not quite sure, but doesn't sound pleasant!

So basically, apply for housing ASAP, or wait until I get the brochure? :)

Room Selection - UF | Housing & Residence Education
At the bottom of this link it shows last year's room selection calendar...the later you apply for housing, the later your room selection date...so yea. >.>;

I got the housing app. four days after I submitted my admissions app. (October 10th -> October 14th) and submitted the housing app. on the 18th. Trust me, get it done as soon as possible. It is incredibly simple and quick (literally less than five minutes); you just verify your name, address, gender, D.O.B., preferred term of entry, and pay $25. You don’t actually select your housing preferences until you’re accepted in the spring and receive and complete the housing contract.

Why did I assume that they told us to wait until we got a housing brochure then…? .__.

My son applied for housing within a couple days of getting the housing brochure and he got his first choice of housing. Many people - obviously people not on CC - wait to do it until after they have an acceptance and that really is too late. It’s worth paying the $25 now to get your choice of dorms.
