just be honest

I am currently a freshman at Louisiana State University (1st semester 4.0 with 16 hours) (2nd semester-14 hours, with my first honors course in the LSU honors college)
-white female
-majoring in psychology (going for CAS)
-went to a parochial hs (3.6…several honors courses & one AP) (only one C on report card ever)
-sad act score of 22
-fairly heavy ECs (High school-some national recognition regarding speech and debate…and other Ecs such as dancing and campus/church ministries, etc. – some awards, etc.)…I am involved in some college activities as well and have a job in my dorm…

Do I have any chance?

What can I do to stick out?

Would it help to apply for Summer 2006 as opposed to Fall 2006?

Does anyone have any advice?

Have a chance at what?
Transferring to which college?

sorry, NYU

a little more than 30%-chance of getting in.......
just wonderin....u can PAY FOR NYU RIGHT?
edit: don't forget to apply to some more reaches/safeties though...

nascosi, I'm not trying to be rude but that's somewhat of a dream for you. A 22 is extremely weak. Alot of little children get a higher ACT score than that (I got a 27 in the 7th grade). I know, a high ACT isn't everything, but see, when you start with the Ivy League dreams, then you run into alot of brainiacs and you gotta compete. I wouldn't call LSU exactly top notch.

Let this situation be a lesson guys. Doing well in college is cool, but try to get as much out of high school as you can, because if u had Ivy League caliber high school days, then if you screw up in college you can always resend your **** in. Technically, if you **** up the ACT, you can take it again as an adult.

haha, yea i can pay...is that some odd assumption that everyone in louisiana must be poor? lol...

i agree that my score is weak, but let this be an example as well...my scores have never qualified me for honors or ap classes in high school nor in college, and yet i've managed to take and excel in both...LSU even requires Honors College students to have at least a 29/30 act score to be admitted; however, because of my essay and grades and honors background (without actual grounds for having one, haha) I have special permission to be in it...the really funny thing is that a 22 is the lowest act score you can have to be admitted at LSU in general, and I have a 4.0 here...I'm doing better than most kids I know who scored above 30...point being, standardized test scores have little to do with ability sometimes, and I hope that everyone here applies to each and every school they hope to go to, because essentially admittance is up to the committees...I genuinely appreciate the honesty; however, the remark about the children was a bit biting, and I just had to defend my intelligence

by the way, NYU is not an ivy, but i agree it is ivy league caliber...all aside, the opinion and response are appreciated

NYU is far from ivy caliber lol.....
it's filled with rich mofos...

There are several dozen schools that are 'Ivy caliber.' NYU is one of them. Go ahead and apply. None of us knows whether they will admit you, but you have demonstrated an ability to succeed in college, and we have a soft spot for Louisiana these days.

By its nature, this whole site overemphasizes the importance of SAT's and college admissions. Even the admissions people know that where you go to college won't make or break anyone. But if you really just want out of the deep south, you should apply around beyond NYU.
