JUST found out FA form is due in a few days!

just sent in my form! just hope it reaches them soon =/

For the things that must be physically mailed, do they just need to be postmarked before the deadline? Or received? It’s always the postmark deadline right?

Do the tax returns have to be mailed or can I submit a scanned copy electronically?

shortnsweet: Thanks for the link!
rh: Postmarked before the deadline.
I have the same question as Secret Asian Man. :/

Seconding the postmark thing =]

And I think that scanning is so complicated for me, so I just send a print copy.

And I’m mailing out the Cornell FinAid app thing tomorrow.

AND ANYONE WHO HAS DIVORCED PARENTS, THUS HAVING TO FILL OUT THE NONCUSTODIAL FORM, CAN YOU ANSWER THIS QUESTION?

 • Does the noncustodial form get sent to the colleges automatically when the custodial part of the CSS Profile is sent?

Holy sweet mother of god. Thank you CC, I would have missed the deadline without you!

Edit: Is Cornell the only college of note to have a January Finaid deadline or do others as well? nervous breakdown

WHATTTTTT?? They could have sent an email or something.

yeah, Tilgaham, this is precisely why I love CC so much:) Ahh, maybe they think if we all miss the FA deadline then they wouldn’t have to pay out all the financial aid anymore.

For Early Action applicants. The CSS had to be in by Nov. 15 and they want copies of the tax forms by Jan. 1. Knew about the CSS and now am overnighting Cornell and BC today for the tax forms (didn’t realize this). Thanks CC. It made me look at all the colleges.

ugh. well the collegeboard’s deadline for Cornell’s FA form is Jan 5th. So im just gonna mail my tax forms today, they should get there by Jan 10th, that should be good enough.

No I know. i would have completely missed the deadline, thanks to that person who told me about collegeboards calendar, its printed out and on my wall  really helpful.

I also wish they would send emails. Think about how many people would have missed this deadline? Well since we made it, more money for us I guess :)

Thank you so much, College Confidential :D

Reading through the posts, I don’t think anybody answered Secret Asian Man’s question about submitting scanned tax returns electronically. Is this okay? Or do we have to mail those separately?

^Not sure, but I sent in mine via snail mail.

To be clear, what is supposed to be due on January 2nd? I know that the Cornell FA app and the tax returns are due for sure. Are the CSS and FAFSA also due?

the CSS profile is due Jan 2nd, I think, but not the FAFSA. See link:

http://www.finaid.cornell.edu/apply/index.cfm</a></p>

So I submitted a scanned copy of the tax returns online. If they want a hard copy they’ll have to deal with getting it after the deadline.

This is confusing. Why would they want financial aid information if they’re not even sure if you’re gonna be accepted yet?

Because the admissions office and financial aid office are separate.

Admissions reviews your application to determine your acceptance.
Financial aid reviews your application to determine award packages.

Also guys, I think I submitted my FA january/february, because I did the same exact thing last year.

Kinda a non-issue. It won’t effect your admission decision or your financial aid if you a few days late with something.

^^ r u sure? How am I suppose to send 2009 tax returns when the year hasn’t ended? Isn’t the earliest I can send this by like jan 15ish?
