omg jan 2 finaid deadline?!

I completely wasn't aware of this deadline for the fin aid form. The site says something confusing about still accepting the form, but I'm really confused and REALLY scared!
Does anyone know if they're still accepting? If so I'll make sure I do the form TONIGHT!

Don’t worry the forms a snap and you can send online, they say they want you to get it in by Jan 2 so you can know what kind of Financial aid package you’ll get by April (when you get your acceptance/deny letter). Gotta love the due date though hugh? Almost as if they don’t want you to apply for financial aid…

Heres the site to submit it online https://www.finaid.cornell.edu/forms/uploads.cfm</a>
don’t believe everyone who says it has to be mailed in, look into it yourself.

Anyway, get started on the Profile, thats a huge pain and requires your tax info, but you can use 2008 because it was due in January. Make sure you send in all your other stuff, like copies of 2008 taxes, 2009 copies (when you get them) etc. Theres a check list on Cornell PDF that you send in. Hope this helps!

Thank you so much.
Yesterday i was FLIPPING out! I couldn’t believe the “deadline” was so ridiculously early, as if the motive was as you said.

I have a theory about why it’s so early: their financial aid situation must be somewhat complicated because they are a land-grant and private university at the same time. Is that at all true? I have no real evidence, just an idea.

I’d say it has to do more with the fact that they receive 30,000+ applicants and accept around around 6,500 (class of 2013 stats). Upon acceptance, the FA office has to make a financial package for every acceptee that is deemed eligible for FA. The FA office, IMO, is very understaffed and it takes time for the FA officer to create a financial aid package that is reasonable and fair for each applicant. In order for you to receive your award as close to notification of your acceptance so that you have time to evaluate, they need all the time they can get :)

Dewdrop87 is probably right, still it is frustrating.

the jan 2nd deadline was just a “priority deadline”. Just get it in as soon as possible and you’ll be fine. I was freaking out cuz i thought i missed it too. I sent it in last week so its ok. Good luck with everything!

Haha… I almost got caught by it. On December 26, I saw it and freaked out, but I managed to submit on time. It should fine, but you might get your FA package a few days later.
