oos…and really depressed

@dazdnconfuzed mind if I ask you what type of deferral letter you received?

I got this one: Thank you for your application to the U of M college of LSA. we are pleased that you have applied and are impressed with your acheivements. however, our high application volume, coupled with the very strong credentials of our applicants in recent years, has contributed to an increasingly competitive admissions process. as a result, we are writing to inform you that your app. is currently being deferred for further review.

while this is not the answer that you were hoping to hear, it is still good news. your app. is one of a group that remains under consideration. all final admissions decisions of admit, deny, or waitlist will be made no later than mid-april 2010.

please refer to the website for FAQ’s about the admissions process and what to do next. strong fall semester grades may improve your status in the deferred pool of applicants. therefore, please ask your guidance counselor to forward your grades when they become available.

because you are in this select group, we hope your interest in Michigan continues, and we will keep you informed of our progress.

blah, blah, blah. :slight_smile: Makes me wanna kick a squirrel! squirrel club…haha…although i’ll join if i get in

^ If it’s any consolation, that is considered the “good” deferral. I received the same one yesterday from CoE, so I guess we’re in a similar boat.

@whatislove…

well, I am not in any ME classes yet. I will be next semester. So far it isn’t that bad if you can manage your time. Chem, Physics, Calc 3 & 4, programming, none of them were/are super difficult, you just can’t get lazy. These early engineering classes weed kids out. I would think 15% are actually not smart enough, the rest that get weeded out just don’t have the work ethic.

I am an international student applying to the college of engineering. and i also got deferral letter on Feb 4th… the “it is still good news” type. i’m really frustrated at the beginning, but now after reading your guys experience. i’m more hopeful anyways. congratulations for the accepted and best wishes for the deferred like me! i’m planning to send in my updated scores and just wait.
IS there anyone received another email after being deferred? i’m still kind of nervous.

yeah I also received what everyone assumes to be the “good deferral letter” lol that’s why I’m not losing my hope yet even after I got deferred. Well, we’ll just have to wait then…congrats to those who got accepted and good luck to rest of us

oh and @Della1993, I haven’t received any emails yet after the deferral letter. I guess all we could do now is just send additional stuff to the university to possibly increase our chances and wait for our final decisions. Good luck!
