This year in Florida all 11th graders were given a free ACT test. Well today our scores just came back and I ended up with a 31. I know the max score is a 36, but where does a 31 place me, respective to colleges I could attend and such.
Also is it worth retaking if I got a 26 on the english section which is what dropped my overall score. Any help would be appreciated.

That’s in the top percentile. As far as colleges go, a good number will except you. As far as scholarships goes, you will a fair amount of money.

Depends on the college, a 31 is good for everything outside ivy league IMO as long as everything else on your application is up to par with your ACT score.

If you got a 26 on the English I Would definitely retake, the English section is the easiest section on the test by far and I think with a small review you could get a 34.

Remember most the questions on the English test are either really obvious grammatical errors or a question that tests for your knowledge of sentence clutter.

If all of the answers sound correct pick the shortest one, this raised my score from a 30 before knowing that sentence clutter was an objective to a 35 without any extra review.

I had a 32 ACT, accepted to Cornell and waitlisted at Harvard. Take it again if you want, but I don’t think a 31 will keep you out of the ivy league as long as you have superb extracurricular activities and a high gpa. Along with uniqueness and excellent essays!
