I just got into Biomedical Engineering at UT-Austin, and I was wondering just how selective the program is..
Are there any acceptance rates out there? or stats on accepted kids?
Should this serve as encouragement for the rest of my college apps (Rice, Vandy, USC, etc. etc.)?
Does acceptance into biomed. give me a good chance at getting into ut-honors or getting a ut-scholarship?

It’s as selective as engineering at UT gets. However, each university and school will likely have their own formula. I will say that I do know some BME’s who were denied by Rice, which is strange because UT is generally ranked as the better engineering school.

As discussed in another recent thread, merit scholarships in engineering are based on SAT scores. Your SAT scores haven’t changed so your scholarship chances likely haven’t either.

Pretty selective from what I hear.
UT’s engineering program is considerably better than those at USC or Vanderbilt. Rice is known for biomedical engineering, but I would say it’s only hardly better. On an overall basis, I’d say UT engineering >= Rice engineering.
