Just registered for my classes - anyone here have some with me?

visual schedule is at http://i.imgur.com/KkCVA.png

My head is spinning from back to back classes starting at 8:30. :stuck_out_tongue: No classes but good luck!

wow that is a nasty schedule. I sure wouldn’t want to do that much of running around in the 10 min break. I’d have no time for peeing/snacking/relaxing all morning…just running from one side of campus to another back and forth. Esp. the bag → den → back to bag several days a week would drive me crazy. good luck!

(it would also probably also stress me out not getting the seat of my choice except in the first class of the day.)

That is interesting, so it is a good idea to not do back to back classes? At my CC I have always done them back to back, but the campus is very small and classes are very small. Good information to know!

at my community college i took back to back classes as well. id always have time for the bathroom, getting a decent seat, etc.

A community college campus is far far far smaller then uw. I would have 2 classes back to back IF they are near each other *. but never 3, and never far away from each other.

even if a course schedules look like classes are near each other, beware: I’ve had 3 classes change buildings/rooms a few days before class starts (to the opposite side of campus) - rare but it does happen!

When i first started at the uw…i took my schedule and walked/timed my route. that gave me a good idea of what i needed. if i think i might need a bathroom i time that in as well. don’t forget to count stuff on the 2nd floor on one building (or higher) coming down going to the other building and going to whatever floor the next class is in

I usually don’t have a problem with back to back classes, but remember that you MIGHT have all of the midterms on the same day. I had CSE-MATH-CSE midterms back to back before; it was not great for my brain’s energy level by the third exam.

I actually prefer taking back to back classes cuz I get to go home earlier that way. lol OH, I’ll be taking music 331 too!

Thanks for the advice guys!

Well, we don’t have any classes together - music nor chemistry are my forte. But, I have to ask - is this your first quarter at UW? If so, congrats and welcome!

Just a piece of advice from my own experience, back to back classes seem like a great idea, but often professors will speak to the very end of class (by end of class I mean several minutes into your next class starting). If you pair that with a professor in the next class that is particularly ornery if you are not in class on time (by on time I mean a few minutes before the start time on the schedule) then you may be setting yourself up for a dreadful quarter.

I had this experience a couple quarters back and wish I had just changed my schedule during the first week when I realized it might be a challenge.

*Also don’t forget periodic protests, events, and friends that may add to your travel time between classes.

Good luck though - looks like it’ll be a busy quarter for you.

Maybe I’ll drop ENGL 200… I don’t want to overstress myself in my first quarter here, and I could just stay in Bagley after CHEM 455… thoughts?

huachingni: that’s what i would do, sounds like a good schedule

I’m just kinda worried about getting from the Music building to Bagley but I guess it should be alright, besides CHEM 455 is a small class so it won’t be that bad even if I can’t get the seat I want. I’ll head to UW and time myself from MUSIC->BAG a couple of times I suppose!

Hey HuaChingNi, I might drop one of my classes and take Music 331, but only if the final exam time for that class does not conflict with my other two. I was wondering if you can see the final exam time for Music 331 on MyUW and post it here so I can see.

Thank you!

Sent you a PM.
