Hey, I got my report card today...I was little disappointed with my AP European History grade but I was just wondering if you guys think I'm doing fine (academically) in terms of getting accepted to top colleges (I definitely know I'm not Ivy League material though lol). So far I plan on applying to: University of Miami, University of Chicago, Wake Forest University, Carnegie Mellon Univeristy, New York University, Emory University, and Vanderbilt University. Thanks for any advice!

No, I'm really and truly not a pompous jerk. Sorry for giving off that impression, I'll think about what I'm posting in the future. I just wanted to know how I stand to other applicants since those schools are competitive and admittance will be increasingly difficult by the time I actually apply. Thanks for your replies (have to make some good out of the bad lol).

it's ok. i know a lot of people who get disillusioned by how competitive the acceptances to top colleges are, and they do worry about such things, and it can be VERY important to have completely straight A's throughout high school.
you've got the GPA part covered nicely. the important thing now is to make sure you can maintain that, but get stellar standardized test scores and great leadership and other extracurriculars too. get the whole package and you will be ivy league material, because i know of people who get into ivy leagues that don't have such promising academic skills, and who are pompous jerks who think they're hot stuff just for getting into ivies. you must understand that the admissions process is a lot more complicated than what you've shown us, and especially with the top rated schools, you just cannot predict who they'll accept and who they won't. as far as what is typical, if the rest of your resume looks as good as your report card, you have a very good chance of getting into any one of the schools you've listed.
don't worry.
