Did you do a considerable amount of studying in between the two tests? If not, you have pointed out a major issue with Spark Notes tests in general-they tend to be extremely repetitive and once you master the narrow range of material they test, you tend to ace all the other tests too.

Great, so that pretty much makes the first test the only viable measure of how you’ll do on their tests… I was hoping for 8 hard tests!

The tests can still be useful, you just need to review the few questions that you are unsure of in the subsequent tests (assuming there are a few). Reading the explanation boxes can also be useful even if you got the question right since they provide you with quite a bit of info.

Also, while the second test could be inflated a bit, that is still a difficult score to achieve, and you will certainly score above 560! Spark Notes US History is still really hard and I would say you will easily get close to or above 750 (I was just saying you may need additional prep to reach an 800 since that score may be slightly inflated).

I got a 710, what do you think I could get on the real thing? and is the official guide a good predictor?

I was getting around 700s on the SparkNotes tests and I got a 760 on the actual thing, with no real studying in between. Granted, I really didn’t like not having the questions in front of me and I finished with ~30 minutes to spare on each test.
