Does anybody have any positive or negative info about the Kelley Women in Business student organization. My D, a direct admit/Hutton freshman, is very interested. Apparently each year over 100 students apply and interview for 20 spots. What makes a first year student competitive if they have only been at IU 2 weeks? Any insight is appreciated.

My initial thought was “Everything at Kelley is competitive!” so of course they interview/select only a few…it’s the Kelley way. In all seriousness, good for your daughter for jumping in and getting involved right off the bat!

I don’t have any direct knowledge of WIB but based upon my daughter’s experience with Kelley clubs my guess is they are looking for students who have demonstrated success at leading/getting results. So encourage your daughter to highlight relevant high school experiences where she contributed to the success of an event/activity. She wants to convey her enthusiasm about what she can do for WIB rather than what WIB can do for her.

Thankfully, there are so many IU and Kelley clubs/activities that even if WIB doesn’t work out she has lots of other stuff to dive into. Best of luck to her!

WIB is a very strong student organization in Kelley, perhaps the strongest. 200-300 girls show up for the callout and take 20 women. They will look at high school experiences/grades, but it also comes down to how she presents herself. There are many sorority women in WIB, so they are looking for those who will fit in with them.

Any body hear?
