I'm not saying Kerry will win. No one knows for sure how many provisional ballots exist, and there is still 3% of the ohio vote being counted, the majority of which is from heavy democrat cleveland. Kerry is surely an underdog, i think he needs to go into the provisional count down less than 100,000 votes to even make it worth wild. Unfortunately I beleive Bush will end up winning this election.

All I am saying is that the election is not yet over as many have gone to bed thinking. Looks like this will drag on for at least 11 days..

I dont need to enlist in the army to see anything. Those soldiers have limited knowledge of what country they are in or what they are doing. And they say they like Bush with such lame opinions (he has good christain values) oh wow that really helps the Unites States. Furthermore you tell me what I should say to soldiers who laugh after they shoot a woman and child in the head? I know you didnt see that. And I dont like Kerry .

Actually I do have a comment
What ties do you have to the military or who do you know that is serving. I just want to know where do you come up with these conclusions. I'm only a sailor but I can tell you how I see things around here and the people I work and live with. Feel free to PM me.

I have nothing against the armed forces, a large part of my family is in there. I am just saying some of them beleive what they are doing in Iraq with a closed mind. Especially when soldiers represent the United States, laughing while shooting a woman and child because that was your first kill is not funny.

Where are you getting this woman and child story from? Pretty ironic you keep mentioning that, as a battalion we watched Rules of Engagement and had a group discussion about leadership and making ethical decision versus going by your own ethics. The officer in charge ordered the soldiers to fire at an innocent crowd but he thought he saw the women and children firing at them. In that situation I'd probably fire too. I don't get what the laughing part is about. My former aviation instuctor was in Vietnam and one day in class someone asked him how many people he killed and my instructor for the first time SCREAMED at us and told us to never to ask a man that question. It's not something to brag or talk about at all.
Again, please tell me your sources!

Interesting.
Until you commit your own lazy unappreciative a$$ to the defense of our country, you have absolutely no right to make such statements about the opinions of our servicement.

Vancat I did not ask for your opinion, and you have no idea what I contribute to this country. I can say whatever I want, afterall it is a democracy. Defense of our country is completely different from me castigating unethical choices made by the soldiers or the president. And im not talking about the entire force, only a minority. And plz if you ever had someone die fighting you would know.

usna_reject, the laughing part was because the soldiers found joy out of killing this woman and child. It was reported by one battalion also, the story is somewhat famous it should be in the NYT, BBC and CNN had a video of it. The CNN video was more in depth, the soldiers blantly said they enjoyed killing because they got tired of waiting to go to war and wanted to practice their techniques.

Now that's downright sick. If you've seen my other post "the college with the most moral people" in College Search and Selection a couple days ago I vented how I'm dissapointed with some of the dirtbags that go to my school. We all got in trouble one time (a couple times) for what other people's mistakes. I'm sorry those few individuals would create a whole reputation for the Army and now you think they're insensitive killing machines. Another misconception about people like that in the military, and that former sniper a few years ago that went on a shooting spree in Maryland, is that the Army or what ever branch made them that way. They had mental issues before they even enlisted. Getting where I am now was a long medical process with a series of health questions including questions like if we ever had suicidal thoughts or have we been through depression. A few slide though but you just never know until it happens. For us future officers morals is a big thing we get pounded on. It's a big responsibility to watch out for characters like that and to recognize the people we are in charge of. I'm sure those soldiers showed signs that their mentality was unstable but it was ignored.

My point was not to make you join the "support our troops" bandwagon. I got upset when you bluntly claim you know more than the soldiers when you are still in high school. First hand experience overrules everything else, that is my reason for that enlisting statement. You may not think it but from my point of view your statements have been a slap across the face.

Yes, you can contribute to this country in many other ways. Just hope your future is bright and all the bitterness goes away. Good night.

usna I respect your opinion when I mentioned the military I mentioned only a portion not the entire part. Despite being in highschool, my life has not been full of roses, I have seen stuff some soldiers will probably never see (maybe so since the war in Iraq). I was just stating some soldiers take their role to seriously and too blindly. I have family in the military, so in no way I am degrading the military only those select individuals who think close mindedly without understaning what that particular country's foundation was built upon.

Hey guys: I took that one select smart questionnaire to see who else matched up with me and according to that, David Cobb was my #1 match. I've never heard of him before. Has anyone else heard anything about him/know anything about him? also, A lot of my standings on issues would be considered contradictive by many people, and that might have skewed my results a bit.

And also, do you guys think it's good or bad that Bush might put conservative judges in the supreme/federal court? (as in judges that have a strict, solid interpretation of the law, and who don't use personal opinions in the court)

judges are never supposed to use personal opinion in the court. he just means he will appoint judges who interpret the constitution strictly. i.e. no abuse of the elastic clause.

David Cobb, Green party candidate for president!
He speaks to my values much better than either Bush or Kerry ever could. Helping the poor with a LIVING WAGE, aka minimum AT LEAST $10/hr, which was the inflationary equivilent to the 1960 minimum wage, so clearly its been done. He wants to gradually pull out of Iraq, which was a huge mistake. To cut the military budget DRASTICALLY, which I feel we need to do desperately. We have over 50% of the budget in the military and some of the worst schools in the world. We're the only first world nation without universal healthcare and who still practices the death penalty, which in my opinion is barbaric and wrong. Where are our priorities? Clearly in the wrong place.

$10 an hour? That's crazy. That would put tons of small businesses OUT of business. Last time I checked, the 1960's weren't the glory days of economic prosperity in the United States.
