Kind of dumb waitlist question

<p>I did a search for 'waitlist' and looked through the different threads, but didn't quite find what I was looking for.</p>

<p>Is there a mandatory way that colleges/universities handle contacting the people who are waitlisted? If someone's accepted, will they get a phone call first, or will they just suddenly get something in the mail?</p>

<p>I'm waiting to hear back from four schools. I know that the chances are pretty slim at getting off the waitlist at most places -- I was just wondering how everyone gets contacted.</p>

<p>My gc said that my schools would call me. But they are LACs. I don't know how the big universities do it.</p>

<p>Depending on the school--and where you live-typically--phone or email-followed up by FED EX/DHL overnight---Good luck!</p>

<p>Thanks a lot for the replies. And I'm waiting on LACs too. I'm hoping to hear back soon - I'd like to know <em>for sure</em> where I'm going finally. I'm set with where I'm going, but it'd just be nice to have closure from the other ones. And who knows right? Perhaps some good news will come.</p>

<p>I also got an email from U of Michigan that i was off the waitlist. However, a few days prior to that i found out when i logged onto the admissions site and it had chnaged from waitlist to congratulations</p>

Does that mean Duke has finished making their wait list decisions? Because that probably means I didn't get in, which doesn't bother me because I still wasn't sure if I wanted to go.</p>
