Assignment : Are people's actions motivated primarily by a desire for power over others?

As our human nature, we like helping others. We like to be kind with everyone and see everyone happy. However, this desire is not a matter of control over the people we help. When Rosa Park, the black woman who got kicked out of a bus because of racism, wasn't intentionally thinking to take power over the white racist man. In fact, she wanted to defend her right to have equal rights as the white man has. Nelson Mandela's and Aticus Finch's actions hold the same them and support the same idea.

Nelson Mandela, the great African hero who took over racism, was at first a normal black man wwho wanted to put and end for inequality. Nelson Mandela fought the nation and his government to make them stop racism and give the black people their rights. His true purpose wasn't to control the city or take power over the white peopl; in fact, his true purpose was to give the same rights the government gives to the white to the black. As a result, his actions weren't motivated for power over anyone, but a motivation for a postive change in society.

Aticus Fincsh, a youn black lawyer of a small racist town, was defending a black man who was accused for raping a white girl. Believing in the black man, Finch decided to help the black man and fight with him against racism. Therefore, Aticus Finch's actoins were intentionally for a true ethical purpose, not for an oppression purpose. As a result, people's actions are not motivated to take power over others if it was initially holding a good reason behind it. Because people are born good by nature, people tend to "help" not to "control" others.

Another personal example that may support my main thesis is about my friend Katie. Katie was a boastful person who always thought of herself superior to all of us in the 8th grade. She had an aggressive way with everyone that wwe thought it represented her spoiled nature. However, when our basket ball couch chose Katie to be our leader, Katie, surprisingly, was so kind with everyone. In fact, her leadership personality helped her to take a good control of us not "over" us. As a result, she coporated well with us and trained us perfectly for the coming match. Katie's actions helped the team succeed because she didn't want to take over us, but she used her aggressive way to let us work harder on ourselves. Accordingly, we need not confuse authority with cruel oppression because Katie's actions resembled a desire of "one team" not "I" and "a team".

Nelson Mandela and Aticus Finch's brave actions were not taken to take over the lives of anyone; in fact, their actions were intented to change the world's view of racism and let the whole society pay attention to the neglected people. Similarly, Katie used her authorative nature to help us rise and hit our goak not to maintain a strive for power over us. To conclude, people's actions are always a good desire to leave a remarkable and a significant mark on Earth.
