I am deciding whether I should put kllc as my first choice or co-op as my first choice. I am coming from OOS so I wanna save some money buy at the same time I also wanna apply for Kelley after my freshmen year. Would living in KLLC put me in an advantage?
Sorry, but living in the KLLC will make no difference in standard admission to Kelley. Given the party atmosphere at McNutt where the KLLC is located, and your need to do very well in required classes in order to get into Kelley, I would actually advise against it.
The only possible benefit would be studying with other Kelley kids, but with 5000+ kids in Kelley they live everywhere.
Yeah, there is no advantage in terms of getting into Kelley
I would disagree with the above. My daughter lived in the KLLC her freshman year and I think the reason that she did so well was because of all of the high achieving students she was surrounded with…Kelley honors students, Fry Scholars…yes it is McNutt, but not the typical McNutt. She did study out of the dorm, but her peers really helped motivate her. She not only got into Kelley, but also Hutton her Freshman year. I don’t think she would have achieved this anyplace else.
I achieved both Hutton and Kelley Honors after Freshman year living in Ashton. YMMV
The KLLC is ALL freshmen. Blind leading the blind IMHO. Probably an overstatement, but I went to upperclassmen in my dorm for help Freshman year… big advantage.
Also, there are no Kelley Honors students living in the KLLC since that program starts Sophomore year. ( RAs excepted)
thanks for the responses guys!
