Hello all, I will be moving to PCV soon and I am a little confused on the knife policy. In the PCV student housing license agreement, it just says knives are prohibited, but what does that actually extend to? Kitchen knives? Hobby knives, razor blades, or box cutters? Pocket knives?

I was hoping to bring some hobby knives, and also a short folding knife- and of course we plan to bring knives for the kitchen…

No one really enforces that policy. I lived in PVC for two years. Just keep your knives put away nicely when not in use and you’ll be fine. It unrealistic not to allow knives. I lived with an advisor for a year and we had a few big cutting knives. Most housing policies aren’t really that strictly enforced, especially in the apartments where you have a lot more privacy. Just hide stuff when you’re not using it in case there’s a fire drill or something.

I think most Universities around the country prohibit the carrying of knives on your person… whether concealed or visible, even pocket knives. Inside the room is probably a different issue, since you’re not “carrying” it.
