Lack of articulated courses might hurt my transfer to Berkeley concerning English?

Finishing up my senior year of high school, and looking back I feel like I had a lack of long-term planning. So lately I've been doing a lot of research on my future road to Cal through Los Angeles Valley College.

Only problem is, LAVC is lacking in two classes for the English major. Check out this ASSIST page.

ASSIST Report: LAVC 11-12 UCB Articulation Agreement by Major

I was hoping that with a 3.7+ GPA, the IGETC or L&S requirements (still not sure what to go through on this one, going to have to talk to a counselor about that), a part-time job, pole vault, and extra English classes to showcase my interest in the major would get me into UCB, but now I'm frustrated that it's a possibility that they might reject me all because, out of the myriad of English classes that they offer, that they don't provide two?! And there is no way of avoiding this because all of the community college within reasonable driving distance present the same issue! It seems like the only option here is to pray that Berkeley will accept my extra English courses for partial credit.

Supposedly if major prep courses are not offered at your CCC or a neighboring CCC, then they can’t hold it against you in the admissions process. As for Cal, I dunno, they kind of have their own way of doing things up there. You could always call and ask them what they would recommend in that type of situation.

if i were you, i would just find out where the courses are being offerred and make sure to take them. there is no reason Not to do everything you possibly can to gain admittance to CAL in my opinion. even if the department tells you it does not really matter, why take the risk?
