I actually have two questions, the first one is more important, the second one is just some clarity.

First a background, While in high school (2.3 GPA), I took some classes at the local CC, got 15 credits, 4 classes, A A B C, ~3.267 GPA.
then i took a couple years off of school,
and now i am preparing for "real" college.

so now I'm in a different community college in the same group,
and when i pull up my classes it lists my old four, and this semesters five.

so question one, will those old four matter when i transfer to a UC?
i have pulled my required and recommended from assist, and they are not listed.
even though the requirement is only 60 credits to transfer,
I plan to take a few extra so that I meet the prereqs for multiple UCs.

part two is, the UCs require me to take English 1, and English 2(different numbers)
well my writing skills are such that I am currently in English 0.5,
so question two is will they take into consideration my English 0.5?
or am I merely taking that for myself, so that I may pass English 1 and 2?

Yes, those 4 classes will be used for your overall UC GPA and unit count-- given that they are UC transferable. Please be sure to input those courses on your UC app. Do not forget to do this. I’m assuming English .5 is a non transferable course, right? If so, they will not take that class into consideration; only course 1 and 2. I’m confident that it’s just a prerequisite course for English 1.

haha, you guys got me, its a tier system, there is Freshman English (English 1) and comprehensive English (English 2) and when I took my placement test, I passed the reading (English .3) and failed the essay, so they are making me take the “college writing” class, then next semester I am eligible for English 1.
as far as my associates goes, all five courses are listed in the other courses section, so I wasn’t sure if they are transferable or not. one is elementary math, the prereq to the prereq, etc to calculus, which I am taking now (long story) and the others are electives, firefighting, computers 101, Spanish…
is there an easy way to tell if it is “transferable” or not?

The computer science one was the only one on the list as a transferable course, although Firefighting I could not even find the group is was a part of.

Sometimes schools have random courses like Firefighting I, which may not transfer. Usually regular GE classes like English, Math, Critical Thinking, and sciences transfer out.

You should start your profile on the Transfer Admission Planner. When you input your coursework there it makes it really easy to see what is transferable and what is not transferable, and what they count and dint count. It shows your UC GPA as well. It’s all the same information that you have to put in your UC application anyway, it just kind of gives you a jump start.

2016Candles thanks for the advice. up til now i’ve been using microsoft excel… I have the required courses from the articulation agreement from assist, but i haven’t heard of that planner. I have class in a couple hours, so I’ll start it now and finish it tonight, see how well it helps.
