Lafayette College RD 2024

Listen, I totally get that the notification was impersonal on the site etc, but just wait until you get your package. The letter inside is FANTASTIC, very personalized and shows they really read your application. It really swayed my DD toward Lafayette.

[ul]Congratulations XXXXX! It is my absolute pleasure to share that you have been accepted to Lafayette College!

[ul]ā€¦

If you applied for financial aid, a copy of your official award letter will be e-mailed to you in the coming week.[/ul]

^ From the ā€˜Acceptance Letterā€™ posted on the portal.

Received an email about half an hour ago, stating; ā€œPlease note that your admissions decision is now posted online and accessible via your application status page.ā€

The letter is like acceptance letters from most colleges; it is on a letterhead, and although the letter is addressed to the applicant by name, it seems to be a generic letter sent to all those accepted. There is no information about financial aid or of any Marquis Awards. Donā€™t know what to make of that. It seems like international applicants will not be sent ā€˜Acceptance Packagesā€™, which is a shame and quite the damper.

No such luck for international applicants, who seemingly will not be sent a physical ā€˜Acceptance packageā€™. The acceptance letter posted on the portal, although addressed to the applicant by name, is not personalized

CONGRATULATIONS!!!

Thank You!

We didnā€™t get a letter yet either . We are in NYC. The college sent out the letters. They donā€™t have control over what happens to them once they drop them off at the post office. Now maybe the time to ask Lafayette to send you a duplicate letter.

We havenā€™t received our acceptance package yet either and we are in upstate NY. I imagine the post office distribution facilities are backed up and maybe short staffed if the mail goes through downstate where there is the large outbreak of Covid-19.

DS was accepted to Lafayetteā€¦ Marquis scholarship, half tuition paid. We are extremely happy and have a couple more to hear from todayā€¦ Lot of great schools, but if anything was brought to light during this recent crisis? Financial commitments and spending for collegeā€¦ U Pitt Honors College still most economical for us.

And, as others noted, the acceptance letter was very personalized. Outlining things they liked about the essay etc. It was one of the reasons we applied. The visit was made very personalā€¦

@KAZE64 - Congratulations!!! - Hopefully those (including myself) who have not received a physical acceptance letter will get our acceptance packet and be able to have the same experience that you did.

This is for all those who have been accepted, yet have not received their ā€˜Acceptance Packageā€™. Please keep in mind that because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the postal service, like most other businesses, is stressed too. I am sure your packages are on the way, even if slightly delayed.

PS: The intention was to have everyone receive their ā€˜acceptance packageā€™ before the decisions were posted on the portal. Had that happened, the three sentence acceptance note on the portal would not have been an issue. COVID-19 has upset many a plan.

My son got wait listed too. Does anyone have any past experience with waitlisted process? What helps to make a case for acceptance and does LC give any money to waitlisted candidates, if eventually they get accepted? It was my sonā€™s first choice too. Not losing hope yet smile:

Congratulations to all those who got in.

Yesterday, my portal said that your decision has been delayed. I checked it again rn and nothing is there. Just the checklist. Iā€™m an international student. Can anyone confirm if this is happening to them as well?

@edudecisions according to the LC common data set for incoming 2019 874 accepted spots on the WL and only 56 were admitted. You can go look at other past years by looking at the LC common data set for each year

Good luck to your son.

@Sarrip sorry for the confusionā€¦I meant same as in I saw the USPS notification for a large unscanned envelope hoping it was Lafayette.

It was Lafayette and they did offer some merit aid. Not enough for us to afford, but more generous more than Lehigh.

@holychild and @Sarrip the Ivies with the no merit gives the best financial aid. There are also a few non-Ivies. Look at their DCs and net costā€¦ you can see that the average student in princeton walks away with $9k in loans after 4 years because the majority of the students received grant / aid.

@mamamard - This is true. My son graduated from Princeton with $0.00 debt. We are middle class and the monthly payments were made affordable.

@KAZE64 You were correct. DD was emailed a copy of her acceptance letter and FA today and it was quite nice.

My daughter committed to Lafayette tonight! Go Leopards!

@imwaleed Same here. When I emailed them two days ago, they said that weā€™ll get the decisions in a few days. And now even that ā€œdelay messageā€ Is gone.

@pptusti do you know what this means or is there any way I can contact you to discuss this situation?
