It’s always a mystery! You never know what the admissions people are looking for. It could be that they suspect they’re a safety, or they have too many committed athletes from your state and want more geographical diversity, it could be the major a student expressed interest in is over-represented. At smaller schools, such a percent of accepted students has to consist of recruited athletes, musicians, dancers, etc to populate their teams, etc…there aren’t as many spots left as we might hope.
My sons stats are very similar and he was waitlisted as well. He did show interest. Interviewed, visited. It really was his number one choice. But we also have a low EFC so I think that played a part as well. Just so sad.
Ok , so I have come down a few notches and the voice of reason has kicked in. I apologize to those of you if I put a damper on your happy moment. I apologize to those of you who were not happy with your decision or lack thereof, in the event that my attitude added some fuel to the flame. In the moment, I did not consider all of the other considerations that the staff at Lafayette has had to contend with, as while they were trying to make decisions about admissions and financial aid, they were also responsible for the students who were currently on campus and whatever it entailed to get them back home to safety. So, maybe their delivery was not perfect and some things slipped through the cracks. Under the current circumstances, I guess that could be expected because they are human as well. So with all of that being said, I wish you all nothing but the best no matter where your child attends college, and for those who are still waiting, please come back and keep us updated…It’s not over until the portal, letter or packet says so.
For those waitlisted (like myself) do not give up hope! This year colleges should be relying more heavily on the waitlist since students will not want to attend a school far away due to the pandemic. Students may also want to take a gap year.
My DD didn’t nor receive her package yet either. When she signed in and then clicked on the PDF it looked like some kid typed it to show friends. No letter head! Extremely unprofessional. This was part of my DD top four, so glad so she decided not to attend. This acceptance was not acceptable. My child and I put moe effort in between visit one, went back for interview, essays etc. They made a point of saying how important the essays are and the online acceptance was sad!
Same here. Just email and no package. We are in Greenwich CT. Just spoke to the mailman and he said White Plain disti center is backed up (Westchester) and our mail goes through them. Waiting patiently ?
We are in Ct too. Got the email that showed zero effort from a school that expects to see demonstrated interest from students. Envelope has not arrived, we will be declining acceptance.
