Lafayette RD 2022

Rejected
1330 SAT
680 SAT Chem
4.05 GPA
A total of 15 Honors and AP classes through High school
Won several awards and honors in my school and community pertaining to stem and leadership.
Good essay for both common app and their own (where I discussed specific things about events that occurred at the campus and tied in why I thought the liberal arts and engineering is key)
Taught children Robotics and created my own curriculum for classes after school and in the summer.
And bunch of volunteer works pertains to stem and the humanities , a bunch of clubs pertains to my interest in Engineering, leadership in clubs, and great recommendations.

I honesty don’t know why I did not get at least waitlisted like at Lehigh or RPI. But atleast I got into several schools and got good aid from then . It was a shock and it was my #1 and I will move forward and get over this! Congrats to those whom got accepted!

Congrats!@mamaba Are you from Ghana?

Accepted!
SAT 1390
3.8 Full IB

My S was accepted today we r in CA. Financial aid was also included and we didn’t receive anything just FYI

@Mmrosa haha no im from nj

@Uscmama8 were you able to access the waitlist form? I can’t seem to find it.

Did something change in portals of those who got admitted or waitlisted?

I figured I’d post my stats for future applicants:

Accepted: Biology
Financial need: about half of tuition

31 ACT
4.364 GPA
760 Biology SAT, 700 US History
7 AP Classes (3 are currently ongoing for senior year)
4s on all AP Exams taken

Really strong common app essay (imo), Lafayette chose to mention that as my personalization in my letter (i know for others its other things so I thought I would mention it). I thought my Lafayette essay was just okay nothing too spectacular (lowkey wrote it the night before lol).

Extracurriculars:
Editor-in-Chief of School Newspaper, member for all 4 years and served as an Editor last year as well
National Honor Society
Vice President of leadership organization, served as a committee head the year before
Girl Scouts for 11 years, Gold Award recipient
4 year varsity athlete (won many awards and titles)
Student Council
HOBY school delegate and volunteer during Junior Year
Girls Who Code Summer Immersion Program
BuiltByGirls Beta Advisor Platform
Band member
Works outside of school

Message for future applicants:
I would say that ultimately my common app essay and extracurriculars were probably what got me into the school. I wish you all the best of luck with your college process and just remember, a rejection, acceptance, or waitlist does not define who you are or what you have done. You’ve worked really hard the past four years and you will end up being at a school you love.

@interapp mine looks exactly the same from what i can tell

My S received the big envelope with congratulations on it today in NW NJ.

I live 1 hr away ( the Scranton, PA area) from Lafayette, and I haven’t received my letter yet

Any international who received an email yet? I’m probably getting rejected, got rejected from Skidmore a while back, 7th rejection hahahah. Congrats to all who got in. <3

Ugh, I will check my mail after 4 pm only(OK time), so feeling very nervous
asked for A LOT OF aid and I am international…

No email yet here.

My DD was waitlisted today. She won’t take a spot though as she has other solid choices.

@nonameleft feel you!
8 rejections, two waitlists, one acceptance(and not sure if will attend)
being international asking for full ride plays a huge role against us(
did you get any acceptances?

Waitlisted from MD. ECE major. 4 WGPA, 29 ACT, 9 APs. Need $$. Would of been at the top of the list had it worked out…

@collegeready2018 Thanks, I hope you are chosen from the waitlist!!!

@interapp I know right, I’m no longer surprised anymore either. I asked for A LOT OF aid. And yes, from Drexel. They gave me $36k but that’s still an additional $30k which is still really expensive for me, and I don’t even want to go to Drexel.
