@Uscmama8 - my daughter was accepted at Lafayette two years ago but waitlisted for TE, and ended up getting the TE when someone else apparently decided to go elsewhere. And at another school, she was on the waitlist and got a call on May 1 asking if she wanted not only a spot at the school but TE as well. So if your daughter is very interested in Lafayette make sure she lets the school know, and that she will go on the TE waitlist.
Best of luck,
Sorry… what’s TE?
Lafayette said they only gave 3 Tuition Exchange scholarships this year and the decisions were already released
@myjanda what a great story how it worked out for your DD! Mine did send a lovely email to the admissions rep for our area expressing her interest. If they really only gave out 3 TEs as mentioned downthread our chances are slim, but she has decided to remain on the WL.
I have a junior but I’m interested in TE and wonder if you could share your stats if you were one of the lucky 3. Three seems like a pretty low chance! At least at Syracuse, if you get in you get it.
What time does experience Lafayette day start?
Did anyone get the Marquis Scholarship who did not visit campus? Our S19 is very interested in Lafayette and has grades amd scores above the 75th percentile for the school. Trying to figure out how important it would be to visit if we are hoping for merit. We are in the Midwest so the trip would require flying in.
My D visited and interviewed and scored in the top 25th percentile. She did not receive a Marquis.
@MommyCoqui Thanks. Of course, I know it’s very competitive.
@homerdog If you live far from campus so that a visit is not feasible, make sure your son gets an interview and he gets his app in a few weeks early. We had a very hard time getting there for a visit and that’s what we did. S then was invited to the dynamic assessment day, which he attended, and received the scholarship.
Does anyone have any idea if Lafayette uses or will use its wait list this year? I know it’s early. Thanks!
My daughter did interview when the admissions rep visited our town. She also applied to the Our Beloved Community symposium and was invited to go to that and really enjoyed it. She has very high stats and did get the Marquis scholarship. We live in Utah if that helps.
Does anyone know when they start accepting off the waitlist?
@bennyj No idea, but I can tell you that my DD is giving up and accepted students spot - so there’s one!
Good luck!
Re. Marquis scholarship – son attended an Engineering open house, interviewed (separate visit) and was in top 25$ 8 APs, with ACT of 32 (34s in Math, Science and English). Waitlisted. We are in NY state.
anyone here from waitlist??? or any info on how they are using waitlist this year?
My wife has a student who is on the waitlist. He hasn’t heard anything yet. Lafayette is this student’s first choice and he plans to attend if the longshot offer arrives.
Admissions told me that we will hear by next week our decision from the waitlist. They said they are currently on a “holding pattern” w/ their waitlist. Any word on whether that student submitted a deposit elsewhere/ where? @hudsonvalley51
The student I referenced has put a deposit down at his second choice college. Thanks for the info you received from Lafayette College admissions. I’ll pass it on.
I wonder why they haven’t used it yet. They have to know who committed. They say they will email by next week. Anyone else hear that?
