Lakeshore dorms?

What ones are they? and i'm assuming they're on the lake, but other than that how are they different, they're farther away from classes, right? How do they compare with the other dorms?

Be sure to look at http://www.housing.wisc.edu/assignment/communities.html
Lakeshore is everything that isn't one of: Sellery, Witte, Ogg, Merit, Chadbourne, Barnard.

Stay away from Merit btw. The single rooms are the smallest I have ever seen. I have a single in Tripp that is almost the size of a double.

Notice the tables they have on the hall descriptions about walking time to various buildings. Tripp is closer on average to my classes than Witte etc.

yeah i just discovered the tables...thanks

does anyone have a good map of the campus? I found some pdf ones but they're really hard to figure out. I'm trying to understand where all the dorms are in location to everything else.

thanks. ooh my two last posts were exactly two hours apart...weird. lol

What can anyone tell me about Elizabeth Waters. In the booklet it seems nice; dining room, larger dorms(just a bit), good location. If one is looking for a dorm away from SE is this ok? This would be for someone not in the women in science and engineereing program. I'm sure if in the mood for a party, one can easily be found, but if thats not your priority 24-7 then...

The best. Short walk to everything but not a zoo.

Barrons, tell me more please. My daughter has to rank them all 1-15 and send it in with her deposit. all your thoughts will be helpful!!

Chadbourne Residential College, Bradley, Liz Waters, Tripp, Kronsage, rest of the lakeshore dorms, Witte, Sellery, Ogg. Don't hold me to the spelling.

a lot of people would not rank liz waters so high. it is probably the best as far as facilities go, but it has stereotypes to it as well. It isn't that bad as far as I know though. (is it all girls? or did it used to be?) I have a friend who is in it now and doesn't really enjoy it. but i know others who are in it and are fine with it. My mom i think, was actually in it for a time when she was at the UW. Anyway. I know that the Kronsage dorms are great. probably second biggest rooms. My friend is in those.

okay can someone please tell me wat is soooo bad bout OGG coz i was leaning towards it coz its open during winter break and going home may not always be possible for me !!!

which are the hard core party halls that one should avoid?
