I am just wondering if anyone knows the dates of the LAMDA recall (call back) in NYC for US students? I’m actually not expecting my daughter to receive one, but just in case would like to know what dates they are so we can plan around them. This really is just in case…it is murphy’s law that if I don’t know the date I will somehow make a conflicting plan and then she will get called back. I think she was told during the initial audition that they would hear results at the beginning of March - but not even sure about that. Thanks in advance if anyone has info.
My D was told MLK weekend to not check email for six weeks but no specific date was mentioned. I just checked their website and you can’t see the remaining audition dates as they are all full, but my notes from the fall say LAMDA finishes first round of auditions in NYC Feb. 26 thru March 1st. So guessing they are finishing all US auditions before announcing recall. I just had this conversation with my D since Spring Break is coming up soon and we have other plans this Spring. Would love to know if any one has the date as well. Not that we are expecting of course, but if you went to the trouble to apply and audition would like to able to be available for recall if asked.
Thanks @momatplay That is exactly how we are feeling. Trying to figure out if we can even make spring break plans. Hopefully somebody out in the CC universe knows this for us.
Normally end of May for recall in London
The UK system is later than the US system, so the recalls are as mommadrama says, normally in May. The timing can get tricky. Please feel free to pm me with any questions. Break legs!
My daughter now said she thinks the USA callbacks which are held in NYC are the last couple days in march into beginning of April - over a weekend. Hope that helps a bit @momatplay
Oh are they doing callbacks in the USA this year, @bfahopeful? That’s terrific.
@connections - that is what the kids were told during first round auditions. They made it sound like they pick a fairly large size group they want to see again (100 to 200 maybe from all over the USA) and do a recall in NYC for all that auditioned in the states. The kids seemed to think this happened last year too, but maybe not. I truly am relying on 2nd hand info - so apologies if I am incorrect. Just passing on what the 5 or 6 kids that did auditions here told me. If you know differently, please share. Thanks!
I can only speak from my own son’s experience. He’s in his second year now at LAMDA. He actually didn’t have a recall for LAMDA, RCS or Royal Welsh (he was simply accepted), but did for RADA. Obviously a UK recall is expensive although exciting I think it makes sense to have a recall in the US and it’s so great that LAMDA is doing this!
Per LAMDA admissions department:
Yes we will be holding recall auditions for US applicants in New York towards late March/early April.
Thank you @mommadrama We couldn’t find that info in writing, so it is appreciated!
You are welcome @bfahopeful
My recall email that I got today says March 31st and April 1st
congrats @shelbyj
if no recall email - do we assume rejection? Will they notify either way? If anyone knows, it is appreciated. Thanks.
Still haven’t heard anything either so emailed the school. They responded yesterday saying that they are still processing results and will be sending them out as soon as possible within the next couple of weeks. Not really sure if no news is good news at this point or if rejections are sent out last? Has anyone heard anymore?
@calgalsal - thanks for the update. We still haven’t heard. It will be a surprise whatever it contains. Although I am thinking it is a no at this point. Good luck to you. The waiting is hard and kind of odd — if they knew who they were recalling to NYC a couple weeks ago, seems like they would also know who was a definite no and who they may put on a hold. But this process has sure taught me that it does NOT make any sense — not any part of it.
@bfahopeful my son got an email this morning from LAMDA saying he didn’t get a callback, and then got another from The Lir (Trinity Collge, Dublin) waitlisting him for callbacks. He had a much better audition experience with The Lir than LAMDA so he wasn’t really surprised. Although the ‘No’s’ are always a blow we are both actually relieved to know and to move on with the others. We are on the West Coast and trying to fit another trip in to New York when we already have visits planned to several schools that he has been accepted into over Spring Break would have been tough. You are right about this crazy process though. I give all the kids that put themselves through it a huge amount of credit. I thought the college app season was mad enough the first time around with my non-theater major daughter but the prep/scheduling/auditioning for theater takes it to a whole new level. As a friend of mine said “It takes a strong kid to deal with that!” Hang in there
Thank you @calgalsal! We still haven’t heard. Ugh -ugh -ugh
Hi! Do any of you know the names of the auditors at the NY callbacks? Specifically a man with a blue earring and a red haired woman. Wanted to send thank you notes but they didn’t introduce themselves! Thought you might be able to help.
