I was shopping for laptop locks and was wondering what the "top of the line" laptop locks will be. I don't plan on doing anything stupid like leaving it unattended or leaving my dorm room open, however I cannot control what my roomate may or may not do.

Would anyone be able to suggest a VERY strong and VERY reliable laptop lock? Since it is protection, I'm not looking too hard at the price. I would like one strong enough that it would require a literal motorized saw or similar to cut. I have also seen reviews on locks such as Targus - 6.5' Defcon CL Laptop Cable Lock - PA410U which will eventually fail to unlock with the correct code. I do not want a thin/cheap/stuck/unable to be opened lock for my laptop. The above example is what I DO NOT want.

In your suggestion, I'd also appreciate whether you believe a key laptop lock or a padlock-type laptop lock would be better for me. I am not sure if all padlocks have the eventual problem of not unlocking or just that particular one I linked.

Related: If the laptop has a slot for a kensington lock, I can still use other brands in it just as effectively, right?

Thank you very much for your advice!
