Large Increase in Apps

Not surprisingly, according to today's NY Times, UConn saw nearly a 25% increase in applications for the Class of 2015, over 25,000 in all. See link to article.

BTW this is not the final total.

Interesting. This could help explain the frustrating wait for an admission decision that some applicants are experiencing. They are just overwhelmed in Storrs.

It has been FOUR MONTHS with no response WHATSOEVER. NOTHING

I don’t think that excuses this.

I find this large increase pretty interesting considering they got a 1% increase last year.

So, will this put UCONN’s acceptance rate at around 40%?

I applied back in NOVEMEMBER…got a decison a week ago, deferred, and they release THOSE decisions in MARCH!!!

4-5 months of waiting!!!

I absolutely, extremely, GIGA-LOVE bureaucracy, especially with a state-funded institution.

Waiting for 4 months is a blast…

Didn’t UConn just begin accepting the Common App this year? My son applied last year and had to do a separate application for UConn. If so, I would imagine a part of the huge jump is because of the move to the common app and it is now a click to send out multiple apps, including UConn.

Unfortunately it is really going to bog down the admissions staff.
