Largest improvement overall, for my sanity

I need morale boosting! No advice needed, just inspirational stories. Please also state the number of times you've taken the test. :)

Large section improvements also welcome.

Got a 600 on January. Got a 690 in May. Hopefully 750 + this time. Essays are now better (using MLKJR TR, TTG, LOTF, TGW, Invisble Man, Roaring 20's - wwII in every essay possible).

Hmm.. Taking it a second time.... uhh..... uhhhh

good luck?

SAT improvement
April M 550 CR 500 W 500
June M 640 CR 650 W 590
No studying just took it more seriously

October 2005 - 209 PSAT
June 2006 - 2050 SAT
October 2006 - 2310 SAT (Practice Test)

first practice test I took in the summer: 1800-1930
last practice test I took in the summer: 2240-2400

Good job.

June 2006 SAT
520 CR 670 M 530 W = 1720

Practice Tests afterward:
M+40 W+220 CR+90
710M 750W 610CR = 2070
+350(So this would be a flag on a real SAT)

I know someone who went from 2020 to 2280, but I don't know what his exact score breakdown were. I know he had 800 M the 2nd time around.

2150-2390.

1870-2090.

PSAT: 168
October SAT: i dont know if i should say 2100s, 2200s, or 2300s. we will seee.

1570-2270 in 6 months.

All these huge score jumps perfectly show how the SAT only tests how well you take the SAT.

but nonetheless, SAT prep helps in other aspects of life as well: Critical Reading/Trivia knowledge, Grammar, Math proficency, and self-confidence among others.

O.O can people explain how they got their gigantic score jumps?

they took a lot of practice tests

i know it sux and no one wants to do it, but sadly it is the only way to improve

yeah, i took a lot of practice tests.
10 from PR's 11 practice tests for the SAT
all 8 BB tests
6 from barron's how to prepare for the SAT.
finished word smart 1&2 and about 3000 of barron's 3500 list.

but i still dont think im ready for the october sat sigh. october is my first sat. i want 2300+!!!
so im going to do:
sat online course (practice quizzes and 6-7 tests)
learn new words
barron's math prep books
satmathpro.com

should take about 3 weeks...

This thread really shows why the SAT is a bunch of ****.

Intelligence does have an effect on how you perform on the SAT. Everyone is capable of getting a 2400 with sufficient practice, but smarter people would need to put less effort to attain that goal.

My SAT II Math IIc went from 590 to 660. One try after the first.
