Ok I thought it would be a good idea for someone to make a thread about what needs to be done before we move in next week. What are some things that need to be done or things that should be brought with(other than the basics)??
+bicycle
+a small safe
+completing the Financial Aid garbage

^U-Pass ordered (if desired)
Football tickets ordered (if desired…they’ve gotta get better in the next 4 years right??)
Computer prepped (download U-M required anti-virus) - saves a little time on move-in day

D1 actually hopes to forget a few things. It’ll give her something to look for during the after hours Target run during Welcome Week!!

Since we are local, we drove through the U yesterday. Everything was looking fabulous and our excitement level is rising! It is too bad about the construction, but we will just have to make it work.

S2 will be living in Middlebrook and I was nervous about parking, but there seem to be enough ramps within 1-3 blocks.

Roommate wanted to loft beds and to get a futon. S2 went along with it, but now is not so sure. Oh well, I am sure they will work it out. I plan to make the bed, but it could get a little tough for me “way up there.” We also plan to leave S2 with a couple cases of water or he will be either NOT drinking water or buying it at the convenience store for $1.50 per bottle. I am also thinking about cereal bars, apple juice and maybe some apple sauce.

I find myself crying quite often. When we returned from dropping off S1 at college, I grabbed his grad pix and curled up in his empty bedroom. The smell of him on his bedding was comforting to me.

Just got D1 moved into her room at Middlebrook and a bit of a surprise has led to one new last minute item; strong sedatives…for me!!

We discovered while moving her in that her hall is apparently now co-ed. She took it all in stride, except for the part that they don’t have “dedicated” semi-private bathrooms either. All 8 rooms can use any of the 4 bathrooms located within the hall, and she’s not too sure about the hygiene habits of young men. She’ll just have to wait and see I guess.

As for me…I have to brush up on my “SAT-like” math word problems again.

Example: A father leaves Michigan bound for the Twin Cities with a baseball bat and a shotgun. Assuming an average speed of 96 mph and one 5-minute fuel stop, how many hormone filled college boys can he dispose of before the authorities taser him into submission?

Too funny! We also moved S2 in today (5th floor Middlebrook) and were also surprised that all the bathrooms on the wing were available to anyone who needed it. Strange. What I did notice is that there is no soap or paper towels in the bathrooms. Since I am local I will take it upon myself to buy pump bottles of hand soap by the case!

Those blue bins were amazing for hauling stuff up to the rooms.

S is in 536. Very tall and thin and the thought of looking at another girl is out of the question because he thinks he is totally in love with his HS sweetheart who is out of state. Thank goodness his life will be spared!
