Late Tuition Deposit=Bad Dorm?

I really really really want a dorm on south campus, preferably a double, but I submitted my deposit very late... April 29th.
I heard from my classmates that the sooner you submit your deposit the better the dorm you will get for most schools.
I want to know if this is true for Villanova because if so, i think i will be sent to main campus with a triple!
=[

I figure that there will be some people who might submit their deposit a little past May 1st, and Villanova will take in a some of the waitlist applicants..So hopefully they get the dorms on Main Campus (sorry for wishing you guys bad luck lol)

I was considering joining a learning community since they are usually grouped together but I decided not to.... Too much commitment for a good dorm spot (1 class a week for the whole year!) -_-

btw, I will be a freshmen

I’m going to be a freshman too, so I can’t speak from experience, but I read somewhere on the website that they triple rooms that are usually doubles in reverse order of when the deposits are recieved, so it does seem likely you’ll be tripled if space is short. I only submitted my deposit yesterday, too, but I’m a commuter so I didn’t have to worry!

About the learning communities, though – isn’t the class one of your regular five that you have to take anyway?

Amelia, you are correct. There is no extra class for the learning communities; it’s part of your regular schedule. My D was tripled on South freshman year due in part to her late deposit. (around April 20th) Her friends in learning communities were also tripled. Learning communities don’t always guarantee better housing.

I submitted later than 29 April and was on South campus, but in a triple. We requested de-triple almost immediately and within a month or two, it happened. Hang tight and try not to worry. You can put in a request to move, especially if you have a good reason, but understand that most people end up liking where they are at, regardless.

I’m going to be an incoming freshman too, and by what I’ve gathered from talking to current students, the last 300 or so freshman to send in their deposits don’t end up on south campus. However, all of these people said that they still had an enjoyable freshman year. (sorry I can’t help much, I sent my deposit back in January)

I read that the upside of being tripled is that you room fee is reduced maybe as much as 1/3 ($2000?) and they use the larger rooms for triples.

Luckily I have a scholarship that takes care of tuition, so thats not advantageous for me…Well I guess being off South Campus will let me focus more on my academics? idk =[

Thanks for the tip ElleJay, I’ll try to make up a reasonable excuse to move…
