Could someone who has already taken or is familiar with the Latin SAT II, tell me how hard it is, and what prep books are the best to study with.

There's only one Latin prepbook out there. I can't remember the name, but I heard it has some errors in it. I wouldn't bother.

I took the test in June with only one year behind me (CB recommends 2-4). Got a 700. It isn't too bad. You could probably do better.

One of the reasons it's relatively easy is that most of the questions are based on grammar. You don't need to have gigantic vocabulary. The derivatives test pretty basic words-- I wouldn't stress over them. You might have some difficulty comprehending the short reading passages. But, like I said, most of the questions test grammar. You don't necessarily need to know the meaning of words in a sentence to guess their cases, numbers, moods, etc. Just be sure that you can recognize patterns and have memorized the paradigms. You'll be fine.
