Just got some info from LEAD about some things I have to do before I arrive :D

Hi! Sorry to be intrusive on this bonding thread. I’m interested in applying for LEAD next year. Can some of you who have already been accepted by the program share your stats? I want to see if I am competitive enough to apply, or if its a lost cause. I’m in all AP & Honors courses, and next year I have a pretty full AP courseload with English Honors. How much do they care with extracurriculars as well? Thanks for the help! It is much appreciated by me, and many others that are interested in the program as well (:

My stats are on page 12
If you need more info just let me know

my stats are on page 11!! PM me if you have any more questions!! Good luck! :D

Well this thread has died down!! Any news anyone?

Well, all I got to say is that I’m so excited for June 24th to roll around! There are so much papers to fill out though, but it’s all worth it. I can’t wait to meet everyone at Stanford!

ME TOO!!! I can’t wait to see everything we’re going to do!!! I know the last email we got had SOO much paperwork!!! I want to see the campus, meet the people, do it all! :D

I know exactly how you feel lol. I feel this program is going to change us in a way that we can’t even imagine!! Do you of anyone else who is going to Stanford with us?

My dad told me I’m in for a life-changing experience and I got a feeling its true!! My dad asked if there were any other Puerto Ricans attending the Stanford program, but there aren’t so I don’t really know anyone, besides you. How about you?

I’m in the same boat, I don’t know anyone except you. This experience is definitely going to be amazing though!!! I’m really interested to see where everyone is from. I was born in Nigeria and stayed there for 9 months until I moved to Memphis, TN so I don’t remember anything about Nigeria lol. I do know a couple of people who have visited Puerto Rico, and they love the place. I’m real excited to meet you and everyone else so I can learn from you all. I’ve never gone to the “West”, so it will be a new experience lol.

Ohh that’s nice!! Yeah Puerto Rico is pretty cool. I’m simply counting the days!!!

Who is going to be at UPENN SBI this summer? We should start a Facebook group to get to know each other :)

Three more days until LEAD Stanford!!! I can hardly wait.

Hello everyone! I hope you all thoroughly enjoyed your experience at SBI earlier this year. I am currently starting the application process for LEAD Business 2012. I was hoping I could get any feedback about the program although I’ve already heard lots of great things. In addition if you are willing, I would love to see the stats of those accepted. I wanna at least line myself up so I can see if Lead is even worth applying to or if I’m not qualified enough… Thanks for your responses! :)

Bumpity bump bump bump … Anyone? Lol

I saw that you wanted to hear about LEAD, so it was a great 3 week learning experience where we networked with some of the top minority students in the country. While at Northwestern, where I attended, we went to many fortune 500 companies like Google, IBM, and JP Morgan, where employees spoke to us about their current careers and what educational tracks they chose. In the classroom, we listened to different Kellogg professors on subjects such as accounting, finance, real estate, etc. Also, we wrote an extensive business plan, on a product that we created, and we presented to different business leaders in the Chicago area. As far as stats, I had a 3.94 GPA, 183 PSAT, and 1210 SAT score. Also, I am an African American male and my essays were sub par, so I had to actually re write my essays.

Thank you for responding. I applied about a month back , but this is still helpful.

so to anyone who went and got into this program, how was it last year??? im applying this year. any tips?

To ailad24 and other applicants:

I’m an old head now, I suppose… LEAD ILLINI '07. I love my LEAD family–all the SBIs and all the years. Six year ago I posted on CC, meeting some of my favorite people. One individual I have never met in person but we have supported each other all this time. We have mutual LEAD friends across the globe, and it is a special feeling to say “I am a LEADer!”

Shout out to all the ILLINI LEADers!
LEAD Illinois 2007!

Oh, tips… I think the younger, or fresher, crowd should offer advice on that topic.
Always seek to communicate well and call the offices if you have any questions. Stay in the loop and realize your greatness is not determined by LEAD or Harvard or the field of investment banking, etc… just be amazing!
