Wharton is back- LEAD was crazyyyyyyyyyyy

tubbz!! you beat me to it :( LEAD is definitely the best thing that ever happened to me. I didn't believe all the hype about it, but now I can say that everything that people said was true and if anything LEAD became sooo much more than that. I encourage you to apply, apply early, and make sure your essays, etc. are on point because it's becoming harder and harder to get in. If you have anymore questions just pm me.

LEAD IS LOVE!!!!!!!! Jasmine you kno I don't lose lol but yes, concur with anything she just said......take your time with the application.......this program truly changes your life...academically and socially....you enter into a network of peers who are like you and older people who want to connect with you...it's beautiful.......

Hi there,
Does anyone know when the application will be online?

I'm going to apply for LEAD this coming up school year. How many recommendations do I need? Can I pick any one?

you need 2...the app will be due around FEB 1 this year

pressed for time right at the moment, but here are a few thoughts on LEAD:

so benefitial that the current class/most recent alumni won't even know how great it truly was for perhaps years... yet, at the same time we all felt that this was something beyond the term "special"

the friendship
the networking
the activity
the learning
the display of talent
the connections
the universal family feeling of all LEADers esp./even more so with the LEADers at your Summer Business Institute (SBI)

truly a life-changing experience
no joke

keep this thread going all the way to next February at least

I had the 200th reply... and I say bump

I edited the title to "LEAD Summer Business Institute" for clarity in searching the forum. The URL for the program is

http://www.leadprogram.org/sbis.html

I also merged another thread about this program into this thread, something I am likely to do a lot on this forum, so that there is a main thread for each major summer program.

thank you thank you

Admission Factors:

http://www.leadnational.org/sbis2.html

Application:

Deadline is February 15, 2007

I have visited the LEAD summer business institute website but found nothing about HOW to apply and WHEN to apply. From looking at the other LEAD posts, it seems that one applies to more than one LEAD program at different schools? Does anyone have this info? Thank you

Those are some good questions. I've merged that post into this larger LEAD Summer Business Institute thread so that this thread can be one-stop shopping for information.

Thank you tokenadult!

stay on the lookout for when those apps come out
the applicant pool is going to get more competitive each year
as we spread the word about the best kept secret (kinda):
LEAD!!!

2nd page
oh no

BTW, let me know if anybody from the Class of 2007 is able to join the Alumni Association via LEAD's/our site

bump

random LEAD fact

THIS IS IN RESPONSE TO LEAD ?s POSED TO ME OUTSIDE OF THIS THREAD

Hey,

I appreciate the questions
I think we should start posting in the LEAD thread: one, it keeps it active; two, it will make it easier to aggregate all the questions and answers about LEAD, especially for this next group of applicants.

As far as life at your respective SBI... hmmm... nothing short of wonderful

I represent that wonderful and fantastic LEAD Illini ’07 group, and I can definitely say that we had fun.

The food was great for us, and KPMG hooked us up with a five-course meal with three selections per course… thanks again KPMG!

All the companies and their employees/reps were friendly, and everyone that we encountered seemed genuinely interested in bettering our lives, giving back if you will.

You get a great feel for college life with the sudden progression of workload, freedom in abundance, reliance on teamwork and communication, and the fact that your home is a college campus for 3-4 weeks.

At Illinois, we stayed in the Illini Towers so we got nice suite-style living arrangements—13th floor, where some memorable things went down.

I can get some of my Wharton fam on here to provide further details concerning their experience.
Also, I truly mean it when I say family. We look out for each other, and even with the inevitable differences in opinion sometimes, we keep cool. In fact, some of our best moments were when we had contrasting views and beliefs butt heads—enlightening moments of culture, of academia and the business world, and about life in general.
